I loved being baptized. It was a statement to the entire world that I had chosen to follow Jesus. The Pastor puts his hand over your mouth and quickly lets the water cover your face, and brings you right back up. Jesus was baptized too.

Just enjoy the experience and pay extra attention to the atmosphere at your baptism and the feeling you get when you come out of the water.
Hold on tight to the person "dunking" you, close your eyes, and bend your knees so you don't slip or sink or dive.
The water should be warm. The people that will attend are sincerely there because they want to fellowship you into the church. You won't get people that are "pretending to care," they all really do.
Just have fun and enjoy the refreshments served afterwards!

We used to go to the ocean or a pool. The participants would generally wear regular clothes, some bathing suits, expecting to be soaked to the skin after baptism. The pastor and his helper are in the water. The person to be baptised will walk into the water and prayed with. Then the two men will support your back while dipping you backwards under. Generally they will hold a cloth in front of your nose and mouth so you won't inhale. That takes a second or two. Then you are done. At least this is how I know it to be.

If is not done in Jesus name, I guess dunk
is not the word, deceived is more appropriate. They did not baptize anyone in
S.Math. 28:19, but all baptisms were done, in "Jesus name". Read: Acts 2:38
Acts 8:14-16 Acts 10:45-48 Acts 19:1-6.
Also you find in Colossians 3:17 that everything has to be done in jesus name.

I have no idea, since mine was the conventional, non-Baptist sprinkling of holy water. I'm thinking it might be scary, but remember that no one has ever drowned while being baptized!
I'm glad you deleted your personal stuff, David. You're being "assassinated" was not the threat any of us were concerned with, you know. (I like the "serious" David pose, but I really hope the "silly" David is still in there -- don't grow up too soon, OK?)
Best wishes, honey. God bless. And enjoy all the attention you're going to get tomorrow!

Thats wonderful. When I was baptized I went up to the front of the church and I confermed that I believed Jesus is the Christ ect. in front of everyone and then the pastor dunked me in and after I dried off a bunch of people came and gave me a hug and said congrats. It was quick and soon over. Its been wonderful watching you become a Christian, my brother.

If you don't know what to expect, don't do it. Would you take a job if you didn't know what your duties were?
My only bit of advice would be to make sure whatever you wear doesn't become transparent when wet.

That's probably when they will attempt to assassinate you. Be careful. Don't let them hold you under too long.
