I read the New International Version - sometimes it helps me as I don't know the original text - get a better view of what a text may have intended to mean. Lion is refering to the lookout on the tower - keeping a dilligent eye, day after day. "Day after day, my lord, I stand on the watchtower; every night I stay at my post." A footnote said the following: Dead Sea Scrolls and Syriac; Masoretic Text "A lion" when referring to the lookout.
