I would recommend that you contact your local volunteer center. They can provide all sorts of one-time or short-term volunteer activities that match your interest and meet real community needs as well. Most volunteer centers have teen volunteer programs.

Through my volunteer center, I tutor children at the local library, enhance visitor experience at the local museum, package food at the local food bank, and a lot of other diverse projects.

Check out your local volunteer center through the following links:

Good luck!

Not knowing how large of a city or town you live in I am going to suggest two places you can possibly volunteer. Hospitals usually have a volunteer program and if you live near a Veterans Medical Center they also use many volunteers. If neither of these fit your living area I would suggest that you talk to your school principle as ask assistance to establish a volunteer program in your area and get some of your fellow students involved too. One excellent program I would suggest is to volunteer to help senior citizens. Some can always use help because they are on a limited fixed income. Things such as helping them shop, cleaning their yards, painting their homes, or many other chores they can no longer do on their own or afford to have them done. I congratulate you for your initiative to wanting to volunteer to help others and it's a shame that so many children today don't.

I volunteer for my local chapter of the united way. Typically, the only requirement is a permission slip from your parents.
We do simple things like having car washes in the summertime, or running charity golf events. In the wintertime, we help out with serving food for soup kitchens or homeless shelters. There is no age limitation for volunteer service as long as parental consent has been granted. And 2 younger hands are far better than no hands at all. See how your parents feel about the idea and ask if they would be willing to provide you transportation to the events.. anybody there will give you a ride home if necessary. Lot of fun helping them out with whatever is going on. Good way to meet new people, and it is a very safe activity for parents to encourage their kids to get involved in. Good luck with it.

In this situation age is just a number..You can never be to young to desire to give back to your community..How are your grades? If you have good grades you can start out a Tutoring group for the Elderly who have learning limitations. You can also tutor the younger kids in your community..If you sing you can start a Community Choir or Chorus. If you dance you can start a Dance Troop. Both targeting the younger kids in your Community whose parents may have after-school care issues. Check out your local Library....They always need volunteers...God Bless you for caring at the age of 15.

HI, i am not sure whether your age is going to be an issue. (but i could be completely wrong).....but i think generally age shouldnt really be a problem. There are many websites online that you can look at for helping you choose what kind of voluntary work that you may find that you would like to do.

this website has many different kinds of voluntary works such as working with children, old people, health assistant help. that you could sign up for, that is local, abroad, or any other places within the country.

you could possibly help in your place of worship near where you live.

Or maybe you can help in Olds peoples home, or Nursing Home near where you live.

You could possibly work in an Orphanage home.

Or you could possibly help a charity.

Well i hope this has help.

If you have to be told what to volunteer on, then you haven't volunteered, have you?

When I was in the Air Force, the Drill Instructor wanted volunteers - he asked if anyone had any experience as a Lifeguard, or Swimming Teacher. I thought it would be a good idea, and I volunteered. I was put to work in the Motor Pool.

Why don't you check with one of the nursing homes in your area.

They will be glad to have you spend some volunteer time with some of the residents that don't have visitors.

Your local library always need volunteers, but you may have to be 16. They have story time for children. They also need to have someone clean the books and various other jobs.

Museums always need volunteers.

Check with your Chamber of Commerce. They should be able to refer you to other places that use and need volunteers.

I proud of you for wanting to give your services to others.

If you aren't particularly passionate about any certain areas, it might be worthwhile joining something with a lot of variety, like an Interact or Leos Club.

Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people aged 14-18. You can find more information about it at http://www.rotary.org/programs/interact/index.html .

Why not do something on your own? You don't have to be a part of an organization to help out. Pick up trash, help the elderly, do anything that you can think of if you want to help out. Hats off to you for wanting to do something worthwhile rather than being out in the streets like most kids your age.

Where I live, we have a city sponsored parks and recreation. They probably have one in your area too. They have a program for volunteers from anything like office work to weekly arts and craft classes to yearly carnivals. You should contact them to see what they offer. I am sure you can find something you are interested in.
