go and see a holistic therapist and have some healing done on your mind, body and soul. Physical pain stems from something deeper going on, and you don't need to take medication to fix it if you can get to the root of the problem.

Is the migraine in the front of back of the head? A migraine is a nervous headache and stems from issues with communication.

Back of your head - Your communication to yourself that you are the one that needs to be accepted is not happening. Tell yourself that you accept yourself no matter what has happened.

Front of your head - could be any of the following or a combination - * If you have something to hide, you do not want it communicated. * Not communicating with your inner being to know yourself. * Not believing you can stand up for yourself and say what you want. * Letting others tell you what to do and not communicating to them that you dislike being told what to do.

Get a book called 'the body is the barometer of the soul' by Annette Noontil. It's very good.

Hope this helps! Oh, and don't listen to the people who tell you to just pop a pill... your only masking the problem and it will keep coming back. Deal with the problem head on and get rid of it forever.

Nothing ended my migraines that I had before except time and ummmmm upchucking, which was a part of my migraine. Then, I would just have a headache that I could handle.

Now that I am older, my migraines had changed so that they are more ocular migraines and they drove me nuts so that I could not see about 4 times a week. Some of them ended with a headache. Most lasted 20 - 45 minutes. It would even happen when I was driving. I went to a neurologist and was prescribed Topamax on a daily basis, as a preventative. I have not had one since. I have the side effects of the tingling of my fingers and feet on occasion and the side effect of the weight loss, but other than that. I am loving being able to see straight and not have those headaches again.

If you have migraines often, maybe you should see a neurologist also to see what is best for you. Best wishes to you. Lay down in a dark room with no lights or sound and with a cold cloth on your forehead. If you have pain relievers that have worked in the past for you, I would take them. Nothing like the relief of a migraine....

Believe it or not, $40 isn't bad for 12 pills. There are 6 other drugs like Relpax (in the class called Triptans). Perhaps you could check with your prescription provider to see if any of them are on your formulary. Here are their names: Imitrex Zomig Maxalt Amerge Axert Frova Your prescription insurance provider might charge less for these. Another way to reduce cost is if you are prescribed Imitrex. It comes in 25, 50 and 100 mg tablets. If you find either 25 or 50 to be sufficient in handling your pain, your doctor can write the prescription for the larger mg. dosage. For example, you need 50 mg, you get 100 mg and buy a pill splitter. Then take ½ of a 100 mg pill. Of course, there is no guarantee the other triptans will work for you. I am just brainstorming to see if you can save some money. Your health comes first, always. Please don't go splitting medications without making sure it is perfectly safe. Some medications are dangerous if they are broken or chewed. I know Imitrex is ok for this. You might want to try magnesium. I am not sure the dose or type but it is supposed to help prevent migraine as it seems sufferers usually have low magnesium. You could probably find the magnesium info out in a search online. See if your doctor would discuss a preventative medication for you. Some anti-depressants are not too expensive and they help with pain. Discussing your financial concerns with your doctor might help. Sometimes they have samples of prescriptions you can have for free (to help out). And perhaps your doctor would pay attention to the price of medications when he suggests something for you. I hope you get a handle on things. Migraine is an awful disease. I hate to know anyone else has to suffer through it.

There is not much you can do to stop the migraine (even with painkillers). I take Tylenol (with codeine if you can buy it ), I try to stand in the shower with the hottest water I can stand running on my neck and shoulders. I put my wrists under ice cold water, and I try to go to sleep, mostly unsuccessfully. You can also try lying down in a dark room, and try to use relaxation exercises (relaxing all your muscles one by one) to prevent a tension headache which often comes along with being stressed out from the migraine.
One thing I do know, though, is that if you can vomit, the migraine often eases up or goes away.
Good luck, I feel for you.

once you have a migraine it is too late
it has to take it's course
the trick is to nip it when you feel it coming on
extra strength excedrin is what we use in my medical facility for onset of migraine pain
lie quietly in a quiet darkened room and try to rest until it passes
a cool rag over your eyes and forehead also helps
if you have frequent migraines your doctor may be able to determine their cause and prescribe medication that will help you manage them
try to log what preceded the onset
fatigue.eyestrain a certain food stress
this will help your doctor to find the cause-or tell you to see a neurologist
very strong frequent migraines could be a symptom of something more serious going on
like a hormonal imbalance or a brain tumor
strong painkillers are not used for migraines

This anti-depressive drug is used to prevent migraines:
Doxepin. It's an older drug and it has helped me. I've been migraine free for two years. I don't have to take painkillers. I go about my usual activities with no effects and no worries about migraines.

Lay down in a dark quiet room and drink a coke/red bull/coffee or anything else with caffine. Migraines are caused by blood vessles in you head opening up to wide and caffine constricts them to bring them back to normal. I usually take a NO-DOZE pill and some advil.

Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at
