i have this program called audacity and i need help!!!?

i had this song that i wanted to cut in half so i could start the song from the midlle of song so i could put as a ringtone on my phone, but i took a 3.2 mb song and cut it in half and it became like 7.3 mb so i wanna know y when i cut the song in half the space doubles.....can i fix this?

Check your save settings. I have this program and like it a lot. I dont have that problem though.

Check the format you save the two halves in. That can make a big difference.
