...that with the Fair Tax in the US you would get a "rebate" check EVERY MONTH instead of just once a year? ...that you would not have to file taxes at all?

Think how much better off we'd be with the IRS completely gone...unless you are an accountant or a tax evader or here illegally.

Your thoughts?

It's a proposal to gut the current tax code and make it simple and beneficial to all American citizens.

Okay, so you all want to scoff at it, I see. Look it up and do the research. It's not actually a rebate, hence the quotation marks. It's a pre-bate check for all the taxes you would spend on the necessities of life for that month.

Yes, it's a flat sales tax on NEW goods and services of roughly 20% or more...but you would have more money because 0% would be taken out of your paycheck every month. Yes, there are lots of special interest groups out there who hate the idea, but overall it's worth it for America to adopt this plan. Imagine how many jobs will be CREATED: US corporations would no longer send our jobs overseas to prevent heavy taxation. They would all come back and more companies would follow.

Not sure what you are talking about.

If you adjust your witholding accordingly, you won't be giving the government a free loan at all.

And do you know... that you'd have to pay an extra 25% or more price on everything you buy?

And IRS completely gone? Just who is it who is going to enforce this, and collect all the taxes from the businesses collecting it, and pay out these rebates, and............ some new bureaucracy? Somehow changing the name of the enforcement agency doesn't sound like any particular advantage.

Did you know that with the amount of people that the current system now employs that you new type of tax has almost no chance of ever passing.. In fact the only way anything will ever get done with the current tax system is a revolution, short of that the politicians wont even begin to look at it.

Getting a tax rebate or refund check is a BAD thing, not a good thing! It means you have loaned money to someone (in this case the government) and they (eventually) pay it back to you with NO INTEREST!

That's dumb.

Sounds too good to be true, I'm sure there must be setbacks too it.
