The internet is not the ultimate source for religion. People always turn to the internet to learn about a particular religion. Of course they will find some truth about it, but mingled with so much opinion and misrepresentation and bad experiences. Why wouldn't someone go to the source and find out for themselves? The only true witness will come through the Holy Spirit. Why trust everything you read/hear?

I do not expect anyone to take my word for it. I believe that someone that wants to tear apart a religion, should respect the members of that religion enough to learn about it from their sources and make up their own mind about it. If they disagree or do not understand, I do not think that it is respectful at all to publish websites about how bad they think the religion is, etc etc. I think everyone should go through the same experience and make up their own mind.

No it is not right to bash anyone or their beliefs. Show respect for all no matter what our differences may be and just maybe this world can change. When we show friendship and love to one another, we can change this world and rid it of hate and bigotry. God Bless

The best encouragement comes directly from reading the Scriptures. Personal fellowship also has an important role in true worship, but the internet is certainly *NOT* the place for true Christians to find good association.

(Hebrews 10:24,25) And let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you behold the day drawing near.

Doug has a point. If we can't believe what we hear or see on the internet than why should we listen to you? I am not trying to contradict you but it is something to think about. It all depends how you consider things that you see on the internet. You have to believe what you believe and don't really let the internet persuade you.

Out of curiousity, are you saying its not appropriate to point out what one sees as fallacious about a set of beliefs without believing them themselves?... You are talking about "bashing" of the belief, not the believer, which I would take issue with. If one is attacking a belief in a way that makes no sense, no one should really be bothered with it, and if one is questioning a belief, or lack of belief, whatever that may be, in a way that makes sense, don't they have the right to present those ideas which might stimulate thought?...

Yes, people have a right to criticize other peoples beliefs if it includes something objectionable in it. I agree with you on one thing, people need to read both sides of the story. But honestly its the religious people that avoid reading any critical views on their faith.

Yes, it's fine to bash if the other person started the bashing.

It's always open game season here. If you want to play you have to be able to hold your own.

So you're saying we shouldn't trust you about the holy spirit?

It's too easy to bash "certain" religions. If you hold murder, misogyny, and death dear, then you need to be "bashed". (Not you personally, friend).
