Your appendix is in what they call the lower right quadrant, which is about half way between your belly button and your pubic bone, and 4-8 inches (depending on your weight) to the right. The pain can really start anywhere... even as just a generalized stomach ache, but if it's appendicitis, it'll eventually move towards that area. You may also feel nauseated on a whole and vomiting too (especially bile, which is greenish brown and looks almost like a pesto sauce). Any hospital will be able to tell you pretty immediately if it's your appendix or not. If they're in doubt, they can even do a CT scan or an ultrasound. If you don't want to go into the hospital, try pressing on the area where your appendix is. Is the pain worse when you press or when you let go? If it's worse when you take your hand off ("rebounding pain") then it's likely that it's appendicitis.

Good luck and feel better! Keep us posted!

Your appendix is on the right side of your abdomen. the pain usually is on the right side below your naval. If you are suffering an appendicitis you will also have nausea and fever and your white blood cell count will be high. If you think you are having an attack of appendicitis, see your doctor as soon as you can. Peritonis can result from a ruptured appendix and that can be fatal.

Where Is Your Appendix

I was told as an adolescent that it is on the left side but upon reviewing, it is in fact on the right side. I have read that appendicitis can radiated from one side to the other but starts predominately on the right. Needless to say every time my left side hurts, I am asking the question and panicking.

What side are your appendix on

It is the right side! Not everyone runs fever or even has an elevated WBC count. My husband went to our local clinic ( I had to force him) about 4 years ago with pain in his stomach, (mainly right side but it hurt everywhere). All of his test results came back fine, no fever, no vomiting, normal WBC. The doc. tried to tell us it was constipation!! If we would have listened to him my husband would be dead. His appendix had burst! The Dr. realized it was something more when he came back in the room and my Husband was rolling on the floor crying in pain!!!! Not everyone is the same and the rules do not apply for everyone. If in doubt get to the hospital!!!!

the appendix is in the right lower portion of the abdomen, just above your groin area. An inflammed appendix can cause referred pain anywhere in the body. But there will always be a fever, and a high one at that. No fever? Not the appendix that hurts.
