how do you know that you don't owe if you haven't done the return? No technically you do not but it's surprising how many people think they are expecting a refund but they end up not getting it. It's safer to file. But no technically you are not required to file. You are also not required to file if you made less than $8,450 for a single person.

Technically you do not have to if you do not owe and/or are due a refund. However, it never hurts top take a few minutes and do it as we are surrounded by idiots and computers and an ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure.

No, you do not.

You have up to 3 years to file if you are expecting a refund.
