No God knows everything.

God has unlimited and inconceivable energies. The Supreme Person is conscious of everything past, present and future, and also knows every nook and corner of His manifestations, both material and spiritual.
Although He is the cause of creation, there is no cause for His appearance. He is fully aware of everything. He is the Supersoul, the master of all transcendental qualities, and He is the master of this cosmic manifestation in regard to bondage to the conditional state of material existence and liberation from that bondage. He is the supreme cognizant.
Although Govinda, Krishna, the Supreme Absolute Truth, is always present in His abode, He is simultaneously present everywhere. Nothing is unknown to Him, and nothing can be hidden from Him.

I don't think God is about knowing - not like we know things. But then I don't view God as a human with supernatural/magic powers either.

Maybe. It depends on what God knows and doesn't know.
The Christian God apparently does not know somethings. For example, in the Book of Genesis he went down into the Garden and did not know where his creations were.
