For the same reasons you can't accept evolution. You whole God idea makes more sense to you and other Christians, and evolution makes more sense to me and other atheists. Oh and God being almighty and the creator of the universe is definitely not a fact, it's a belief.

Ego. It has to be a pretty scary place to be to be an atheist. A lot depends on you!
Faith is a gift, a grace, if you will. We accept that there is a God who is greater than we are who created all things, good. It is humbling to know we are part of something so awesome.
As for the atheist and answers to why they are, well it is much too large to comprehend. We need to pray that God can convert them from their un-belief. It sure will be a load off.

The reason that athiest don't "believe" in God is because, normally, something has led them to believe he doesn't exsist. Someone they love has died even thought they prayed that that person would get better. It is actually really complicated. For one thing, most people only believe what they can see. Christianity is deeper than that. You have to have this little thing called FAITH and believe there is HOPE and you have to believe in LOVE. There is no such thing as "luck" or "chance" or "fate". Life is how He wants it to be and He already knows who is gonna stay and who is going to heaven. People need to have a better sense of belief than they do. I mean just because they can't see it, most people don't believe it. Let me ask all of you one question. Did you believe in Santa Claus at one time? If you did, then you had the belief that something was real even though you had never seen him. Don't say you saw pictures because people have seen "pictures" of Jesus and still don't believe. Lot of things which we didnt explore or find the reason for its existence ...people in the earlier days started to give that credit that God has created those. As science is improving lot of things are being revealed and now you believe some of them are not god's creation and we have proof to show them.
Its simply that we got used to give god the credit for whatever things we havent figured out a reason yet.
Inorder to believe god there are lot of confusions .... If we think Jesus is the god..there are people who were born before him and hence there must be a god who must have created those people..But who is that GOD, nobody knows..all we know is somebody named JESUS with the power of healing and a Man of patience..and start to pray him even questioning why should one pray.
So for athiest to believe we need reason...strong enough to convince ourselves.

2) Why is it that only fundamentalist Christians and Muslims seem so concerned that others believe as they do? People of all other persuasions live and let live.

Why can't you read your Bible for these answers?
Are you not aware, O observer of human capacity for thanks, that as real time passes, atheists and non-Christians are looking after various God-given concerns, such as finding food, caring for family etc.?
