I taught CCD and was a Catholic school teacher for many years who was involved in Confirmation more than Communion, but making the sacraments is about the same for what you are asking.

Depending on the parish, children make their First Communion in either the second or third grade at around ages 7 and 8. At both schools I taught in, they made their Communion in the third grade to make taking part in their Reconciliation sacrament standout more. In my dad, we made first confession just as a bridge to our First Communion. Often, parishes want to make first reconciliation special, too. In my niece's parish, they still do both sacraments in the second grade.

CCD students make the sacraments in the same grade as the parish school students do. They are taught the same things and are integrated with the parish school students in receiving the sacraments because the sacraments are a parish function for the entire parish community and not a school function. Toward the event, students are often excused from one or two afternoon school sessions at their school to attend "dress rehearsals."

First Communions take place during the Easter season of the Liturgical Calendar meaning that they take place after Easter and before Pentecost. When your daughter attends second grade CCD, they will focus the entire year's curriculum on their First Communion and reconciliation if they are making them in the same year. They will place an even larger focus on it after the Christmas holidays.

I hope I answered your question.

Children start CCD in kindergarden (my boys did where we live, some places may be first grade). The classes last about an hour and depending on what church you go to will depend on the schedule. At my church my son was able to go during the 8:30 mass on Sundays, there were also classes during the week after school to choose from. It usually goes from the fall (October-April) through the spring. The children have their First Holy Communion in 2nd grade. Call your church with any questions and ask for the religious ed department, they will help you and God Bless!!

In our Catholic school all of the children take catechism together in grade 2 and have first communion together as a class in the Spring of grade 2. Most of the kids are 7 yrs old.

Some churches begin their classes at the kindergarten or even preschool level. Others begin in first grade. Call your local parish to find out. (You normally have to 'belong' to the parish before your child can attend their CCD, if they even have a CCD.)

your daughter should start ccd in first grade. in our church, 1st communion is in 2nd. in others it is 3rd grade. check with your local parish to find out the specifics there. the entire school year is devoted to learning about reconciliation and communion and the actual ceremony is usually in may.

Those classes are usually offered to 4th-6th graders, but as long as your daughter believes in Christ as her savior, there is no reason she can't get baptized. Just talk to your pastor about having your daughter attend a pastors class.
