A friend of mine was pulled over for speeding and he had 4 people in the back seat. To try and get away from a citation he pretended not to speak any English. Yeah right! Like you can get a CA DL w/o passing the exam. He wouldn't even understand Spanish. The passenger was nice enough to translate, and YES he got the citation. for the speeding only .
It was soo funny. All in all, I have pretended not to speak English, when I've been around people who are talking bad about me and I just let them keep going. And finally just say something sweet to them in English of course.

When I was a kid my friend and I used to, speaking very gravely to eachother in nonesense that sounded vaguely French.
Now that I am older I realize that most people who know languages could probably tell exactly what we were doing, but at the time we felt we were very clever.

And its exciting to make certain how human beings react in this problem.

No. But when I was in college we had some French Canadians who always acted like they couldn't understand English to get out of tickets and such. Worked for them.

But no, though I have been tempted.

No, I have not, but I've been tempted to do so. . .what has happend, is that I speak Spanish with my brothers and it turns out the person close by knows Spanish! Not the best thing to happend, especially if you are saying stupid/inappropiate things. . .
