Two 'old sayings' or two traditional sayings.
"You always hurt the ones you love" means that unconsciously you will inevitably hurt the ones you love most without thinking or through thoughtlessness because they love you.
The second saying you are looking for I think is "If you love someone, they will understand" meaning they won't be hurt by small injustices, they will understand and will still love you, because love is unconditional. So they are both true and accurate and happen all of the time.

Because some peple are dumb enough to only pay attention to everyoen else around them and take for granted the ones that are closest to them and treat them like ****. meanwhile, the other part of the population have brains and realize if they dont treat the ones they are closest too and care about respectable, they will lose the relationship. that's why! Some people are dumb (they use that line as an excuse: you hurt the ones you love. That's nothing but a "pity me" excuse), and some arent. Simple as that.

cause people always like to have answers to everything, and sadly its not always possible. Also its a total generalism because you'll end up hurting people you don't even realise, without doing it on purpose whether you're close or not/love each other or not. eg. inreciprocated love hurts as does jealousy, as does being ignorant in some way or other and accidently leaving someone out. Its a no-win situation.

You're right, people say both. But I tend to agree with the first one since we all do unconsciously hurt the ones we love precisely because they do love us! I think the second one is more along the lines of if you purposely try to hurt someone then you obviously don't love them.

You only hurt the one you love means you only hurt the people who are important to you, the people you care about.

I think it means that the only ones who really get hurt are the people that care about one another. Like you can't hurt strangers, because they dont care about us. We only hurt the ones we love ... simple.

Um.. because just because theirs a saying doesnt mean its true.
Why would you hurt the people you love? and why would you love who hurt you?
Sounds like the person who wrote that quote wanted an excuse for their sh*tty relationship

I've always heard it like 'the ones you love hurt you the most', or something like that.

I think it's a bunch of crock!
If you love someone you don't INTENTIONALLY hurt them...
If you do...you don't love them...
