Christians...and others...marry at a church because its traditional in most cases and they want the so called "perfect" wedding in the little white chapel. Some of us marry in a church because we believe marriage is a sacred vow to another person and a promise made to God.

Tradition, A Sense of Community, and a Sense of the Sacral, and a Sense of the Sacrament in the event is part of the History in the Event; Most of these are probably not part of the event any more; In far too many ways it has become sort of an Economic transaction, so the ceremony has itself been trivialised in proportion to how sacred the ceremony has been seen.

I think that in today's society that you need all the help that you can get in holding a marriage together. So God should always be the third and most important party in the marriage.

Also, you hold it in the church building becuase that is your primary place of worship and gathering place for your family and friends in most cases. What better place to start your life together.

ALL sanctioned Catholic weddings are in a Church. (As far as I know)

We believe that we are making a holy Sacrament between two people and God and this should be done in a Church where Jesus is truly present through the Eucharist.

Besides, what if a bird doo's on the bride in the middle of the service???? Or, Rain......

Why not... if one is available.... not a requirement... because if two Christians marry, wherever they marry, that is where The Chruch is.

Where two or more of God's people gather in His name, that is where The Church is.

Because Christians consider marriage to be a sacred sacrament, so it makes sense to do it in a church.

Marriage was ordained by God. Why not marry at a church if you are a Christian?

Because many people of faith believe the church building itself is the house of God here on earth. And, as they want their marriages to be blessed by God....it is appropriate in their eyes.
