That god used to write the mormon bible??

Is this really a true belief?

And if so why would god need a man made invention to see better?
Thats as effin crazy of a belief as scientology.

Well whatever was left behind has anyone ever seen them?
If not how come? Will you catch on fire if you gaze on their magnificance or something like that?

Uh, no, thats not true. He left behind a golden tablet and "seerer" stones that Smith allegedly needed to translate the tablet into English.

I will agree that pretty much any religious beleif is as effin crazy as Scientology.

Kind of...

There are two stories as to how the Book of Mormon was translated.

The First: With the Golden Plates that he found, Joseph discovered the "Urim and Thummim", which was a holy breastplate attached to some magic spectacles (glasses) and a "seer stone" on each side around the shoulder area. Joseph would put on the breastplate and the spectacles, and they would make the "Reformed Egyptian" characters appear in English. He would then read them aloud to his scribe. This was the version Joseph told.

David Whitmer, one of the "Three Witnesses", told a different story. He said that Joseph put the seer stones into a hat and put his face into the hat, then recited the script for the Book of Mormon. This version is a little more probable, because no one other than Joseph Smith has supposedly ever seen the breastplate-and-goggles contraption.

According to Mormon myth, though, God didn't leave it; it was Moroni, the last 'prophet' to write in the book. This same Moroni was claimed by Joseph to be the angel that appeared to him in his room to tell him where to find the plates and other stuff.

The Urim and Thummin concept of translation came after the BoM was published. Smith's Peep Stone is supposedly owned by the Corporation of the Presidency, but is never displayed.
Neither is Zelph's bones or the 'real' papyrus that Smith translated because the one the church now owns is the funerary papyrus - or maybe Smith could read the secret code it secretly has encoded secretly (God codes things secretly). But that's a secret.
But it's no secret that Smith translated the Kinderhook Plates despite the fact it was a hoax.
Most church leaders wear glasses that look sort of thick, so maybe all the general authorities can read stuff ordinary mortals can't. I think was a B movie plot, too

Surely you've read in the Old Testament of the Urim and Thummin that was in possession by the prophets, seers, and revelators, haven't you?

These were translators, the same that was used by Joseph Smith, Jr., when he translated the Reformed Egyptian found on the gold plates into what is now the Book of Mormon.

Upon completion of the translation, the Urim and Thummin and the gold plates were returned to the angel Moroni at the Hill Cumorah in New York State.

Read the Book of Mormon and the history of Joseph Smith found in that testament if you want to know more.

Joseph Smith did not use "Glasses" to translate the Book of Mormon. He used seer stones, which were crystal like stones which were fastened together. The golden plates that the record was kept on were engraved just as other records that they wanted preserved were at the time it was written (600 BC- 421 AD). Later in life, the prophet Joseph Smith did not need seer stones, but in some way the words would come to him as well. My feelings are that the stones were used for Joseph, so he had something tangible, but as he grew he no longer needed them. Good question though.

I think you're talking about the Urim and Thummim, which were described at two white stones. Actually, they're mentioned a few times in the Bible; why God used them, I don't know - but you can read through these and see what insights you can gain:

Ex. 28: 30 (Lev. 8: 8) put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim.
Num. 27: 21 ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim.
Deut. 33: 8 Let thy Thummim and thy Urim be with thy holy one.
1 Sam. 28: 6 Lord answered him not, neither by . . . Urim, nor by prophets.
Ezra 2: 63 (Neh. 7: 65) stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.
Rev. 2: 17 white stone, and in the stone a new name.
