The average age of first sexual experience was 14 years 9 mos.
Does that seem average to you younger folk? Or a little on the young side? I would have guessed 16 years old. But- my reference point is from the 70's.
I think that they may misrepresented the data- as this may be the average of those that *had* sex.

Ooops. I stand corrected. It's 14.9 years, which is nearly 2 mos older than I stated.

um yes when i was 14 mostly every girl i knew was screwing around my sister had her first kid at 14 and her second at 15 so yah i believe it !

Note -- not 14 years, 9 months, but 14.9 years (14 years and almost 11 months... nearly 15). It does seem a little on the young side to me. I was a high schooler in the 90s, and would also guess the average would be 16-17.
But this takes into account our surroundings, culture, etc.

Sounds about right to me although Im pretty sure it'll get even younger...its scary to read in the papers about the antics that younger teenagers get up to. That said i had sex for the first time when i was fifteen...by then two girls from my year had gotten prenant and i went t o a fairly ok school out in the country in the west of Ireland. I do remember my best friend had sex for the first time when she was thirteen.
If this survey is based solely on sex then its a little scary to think what other stuff younger people are getting up to...

I think that is sick! I think it has a lot to do with media and being exposed to inappropriate movies at younger ages. I recently heard of 5th graders being arrest for having sex in a classroom. I also believe hormones in milk have something to do with speeding up the puberty process.

Honestly I hope that poll is incorrect. I know a lot people didn't have the first time happen until they were at least 16 or 17 even older. So I think we need to teach our kids to respect themselves and wait until they are older. Think of the consequences. NO one wants to be a teen parent. Seriously!

Sadly that is about right. If you think about it they start teaching sex education around grade 6...that's about 11 years old on the most part. Sex today is more widely talked about instead of being as taboo like it used to be.

Yes children these days know more about sex then their parents ever knew. They watch to much TV and are around the wrong crowd.

omg, 14!!! wow, thats crazy! and so young its sick. Geez, 14 is still a little kid. Id say the age should be around 17 or 18.
