The slopped down downtube was because women wear skirts.

Usually, this bikes are usually low end. Higher end bikes have different geometry for a man and a woman (different body proportion between legs, arms and torso), so the bike needs to fit different. But some women benefit of this geometry, while some don't.

Women used to ride a bike in skirts, so when they had to mount the bike they could not swing one leg over the it, like men do.

The decrease bar replaced into to residing house skirts. no longer as many ladies persons experience in skirts anymore that's why truly some women persons are driving motorcycles with the bar on the proper, because the triangle is a more effective layout.

It because when bikes were first made women always wore skirts and the bar in the middle would have lfted up the skirt and showed off stockings and ankles (heven forbid)

It's just a leftover tradition. It's what women traditionally rode due to skirts. However, notice how there are no high end women's bikes? The frame design is actually not as strong and really pointless.

Women's bikes are made like that so the they can wear skirts whilst riding & be able to dismount without any trouble. It's the same a women riding horses side-saddle.

in the past that is how it used to be so the ladies don't have to swing there legs over the bar and reveal themselves so bike makers of today still uphold that tradition though i would have to say that when i was younger i would prefer not to have had the bar fallen was not so fun hope this helped

Women's bikes are made so that the can be ridden whilst wearing a dress. this is not only to stop showing of their under ware. its so that they don't fall **** over tit when they try to get on and off.
