I'm going to have to take an extended vacation from Yahoo! Answers and I may not return. I considered just disappearing but I've had some good exchanges with some very smart people here so I decided I would say good-bye.

Essentially, I'm just not well enough physically or mentally to handle the torrent of ignorance and negativity here. My therapist has suggested (not insisted) that I protect myself from destabilizing influences and I think he's right.

I thought initially that this would be an interesting and fun experiment and a way to explore some issues of concern to me but it hasn't really worked out that way. I have had some fun, and thanks.

I'll be fine don't worry about it and I hope this hasn't sounded too whiny. "Can't take the heat? Get out of the kitchen", right? and so I am. Best wishes to all the good people here and keep up the good work. The list of people I like is a bit long for personal acknowledgements but you're all in my contacts.

Be good to each other!

Being on Y!A is like being in the Mafia : nobody ever leaves it for good.

Dear Geoffrey, I have always liked your kind responses. Yes, I guess I was spying a little. Is that so wrong? lol. You seem to be a sweet man and I wish health and happiness to you. I am going to add you to my list of contacts, in hopes that you will return. I think taking a break from here is a good idea. I hope you receive what you need in your life. Take care.

This is the first time I've ever seen you here, but your therapist is absolutely right. This is not a place for the weak to hang around for very long. I've had to step away sometimes myself. I'm glad you met people here who you can keep in touch with, but my e-mail is open, so if you'd like to talk, send me a message. I've experienced and seen people with many issues, to be blunt, so nothing you could say to me would surprise me. Anyway, take care of yourself and only come back here when/if you think you can handle it. God Bless You.

I went back and read one of your previous questions. It was the one about your dream. What the dream was telling you was not to care what others think. Be yourself. You knew that this is what your mentor would say to you. He may have told you that in the past. The thing to remember is that on Answers and in chat rooms there are a lot of people that do not take things seriously. You have to take it all in stride. You don't even know these people and probably would not want to know most of them. Debat is a good thing. I would rather debat a subject and find no answer that to find an answer and never debat that subject.

I don't know you either, but I would like to say that I understand your decision. There were times when I was so fragile I couldn't bear almost anyone and anything, because so many people are lightly impregnated with something negative, and I couldn't bear any of it. All sorts of discourses and opinions were hurting me, because they had a potential negative charge in them, and I was unable to resist that, even that potential, even if not meant badly or negatively, was hurting. So it is important to protect yourself at such times, and it is good if you have where to go.
I wish you all the best.

You will be a real loss to the answers comminity. Your answers are always thoughtful and intelligent - both things which, most of the time, are sorely lacking on yahoo answers.

Plus you are the only person in my "fans" list, so you will leave me fanless....Fare thee well.

Standing in the tornado is a great way to feel alive but it is often very taxing. I hope you'll be back again too. Good luck in your future.

Y!A's strength and weakness lies in it's convenience and ease of use. If you want a better forum it will be one which is harder to use and less convenient to access.

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.

There comes a time when the wise move on. Take care.

My therapist would say the same thing about me getting away from this site too.

I hope that you'll come back, but in the meantime enjoy yourself.

Kitchen remains open if you wish to return.

Remember that *nothing* anyone says here need affect you in a practical fashion -- you are what you are and the opinions here have no bearing on you if you are firm in your beliefs.

Come back any time -- I keep flying away and then coming back to roost. : )
