While it would be interesting to see several different manufacturers re-enter NASCAR, there is really no point in it given that everyone will be racing the same bodied cars within a years time. The COT eliminates the chances of Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac or any other GM division coming back. They would all use the same GM block that the Chevys do anyway and run around in the COT. Ditto for Mercury or Plymouth.

I think the more manufactures in NASCAR the better, but I do not see Buick coming back. GM owns Chevrolet and they want all their resources in one car. That is the reason Pontiac also left NASCAR a few years ago because they are also owned by GM. It was really sad to see Pontiac go, they won the championship in 2000 and 2002 then left the sport after 2003.

No. Buick is a luxury car. Not ONE of their cars are even remotely "sporty". They don't even try to make sporty cars anymore, as they did in the past. Buick is GM's affordable luxury line (opposed to the more expensive Cadillac). Buick would stick out like a sore thumb in NASCAR. Plus, it is definately more costly for GM to field more than one make. If they brought a non-Chevy back on track, I would want it to be Pontiac. It is the best fit for NASCAR.

Hey, they weren't called Grand-Nats for nothing!! But considering that GM owns Chevy, Pontiac, etc., I don't see that corporation putting money into R&D for setting up a Buick for racing.

Considering the templates and aero-packages that NASCAR sets up/requires, it doesn't matter to me who the manufacture is. It would be cool, to see a buick back on the track though.

I say the more the merrier. However I don't think Buick is interested at this point and with GM running racing programs with Chevy (NASCAR, SCCA, ALS, etc.), Pontiac (Rolex Series), and Cadillac ( American Lemans) I don't think GM would allow them even if they where interested.

Buick seems content marketing to the Golf crowd and they have a great Spokesman in Tiger Woods.

Not unless they bring back the Grand National. Buick's target audience is concerned with ride quality and dependability. Most people would say that the typical Buick customer is a little older and maybe not your average, rabid race fan.

No, because when I think Buick, I think car that's going 10mph below the speed limit in front of me driven by a tuft of grey hair barely able to see over the dashboard. Pontiac would be a better fit.

It really wouldn't matter with the Car of Tomorrow around. And I'll bet it's kinda scary to enter Nascar as a manufacturer with how Toyota's doing.

No, The last buick came in 1990, Brett Bodine had his only win at North Wilkesboro.

I would not. I believed NASCAR was fine before the introduction of Toyota, and now that Toyota is involved another manufactorer would throw the series into chaos. There would be too few drivers in each of the manufactorers except for the Chevys, and one, if not more, of them would have to leave the series.
