The word is "statutory". It means there is a law (statute) against the behavior.. In most places, 15 year olds cannot legally consent to having sex. So if a 21 year old (an adult) has sex with someone under the age of consent (even if technically the young person said "OK"), then it is against the law, and is considered to be rape.

It's rape. Stagutory isn't the same as the rape we all hear about in the news. This law is for the parents of the 15yr old to press charges against the 21 yr old. NOTHING the 15 yr old can do to help that 21 yr old once the parents have filed suit. Wait another yr. Then it's perfectly legal.

"Statutory rape" means that the law says that a person below a certain age isn't capable of understanding the significance or consequences of giving consent to sex, so sex with that person is automatically considered rape. So, yes, with the ages you describe, it would be considered rape in most places, even if the younger person really wanted it to happen or even initiated it.

yes it is statutory rape. any time there is a two and a half year difference between a minor and any one else no matter if you want to or not it is rape. The child in the situation by law can easly be coerced into believing it is a real relationship but the law does not see it as love but manipulation.

If it's consensual then it's not considered rape EXCEPT ...the parents can say it is because the 21 year old is taking advantage of a 15 year old...

It doesn't matter if the 15 year old is okay with having sex or not - if someone finds out and reports the 21 year old, he's going to jail!

Why the hell would a 21yr old want to have sex with an immature 15 yr old kid in the first place?Probably because their an immature person, probably with low intelligence, who can't converse properly with people their own age.Gramps, quit cruisin for chicks at the high school and try and nail someone your own age.

Statutory means the underage person cannot give consent that matters, whether or not she/he wants it to happen, the underage party is considered too young to give an informed consent.
So yes, in most states what you have described is statutory rape.

I think all 50 states say that a minor has to be at least 16 to consent, but quite a few states say that they have to be 18. So if you are doing the deed with the minor I suggest you stop and wait a few more years.
