why is it that if a black person calls white people a cracker or honkey then its ok, but when a white person calls a black the "n" word then we're being a racist, i mean if you call me a racist name then you can bet your *** i'll call you one back.

Its all racist...and it because they want to (African Americas)want to feel special because they believe they are abused.
We are all human and are today for the most part treated the same. Racism is wrong and both races do it its just the media only (like on many issues) acknowledges one side of the issue.
But we all have the right to free speech...
I dont agree with it but this is apart of life.

I guess because I honestly don't get offended when someone calls me a cracker or a honkey, I don't think I've ever been called that really. Who even says that anymore, I'm not even sure if I know what they mean? Last person I heard use the term "honkey" was Richard Pryor. Those terms are as old and used up as "N" word is. Heck, blacks aren't even offended anymore as long as the word is used by another black person. Like my wife says, you can call me a "B***h"... but you better not grit your teeth when you say it. I think it all depends on the context, it's not so much the word... but just the fact that you inciting a reaction based on some sort of verbal offense.

Your right, there is a double standard, but you have to remember, the whites were not slaves, and white always had rights, (white men) There is a long awful history that is associated with the N word. So if you think it alright to call someone that just because someone called you a name, them hmm, maybe you are a racist.

It is not OK.

It's not racist to say that the black community slings certain ethnic slurs around quite liberally amongst each other, yet they damn other races for using those same terms in any context. The bottom line is that you either dislike those words, or you do not. Who speaks them is irrelevant.

If the black community expects respect from those outside of their race, then they have to demonstrate a level of self-respect from within in order to obtain it.

Thumbs down me all you want, that's how I feel.

Whatever.

You white people started this racist stuff. You reap what you sow.

White people are so wrong. It was white people that generation after generation after generation made Black people feel that they were lower to them.
Now, white people want Black people to forget about their treatment of them.

White people never want to acknowledge slavery. Yet, bring up anything else that happened in this world like the Holocaust then they will moan how horrible it was.
Slavery? Oh, just get over it.

Edit:
I know white people were going to thumb this down. Just goes to show that they could care less about what happened to Black people.

Find me a black slave in America, Lauren. Stand him here before me and I'll forever shut my mouth about this particular double standard.
I was a slave. It was three thousand years ago, but still...

It is not ok. There need to be a lot of changes made in society. People need to practice respect if they want to get respect back.

It's all disrespectful, isn't it? Disrespect is a virus that can only grow until somebody says "I won't be a carrier".
