I'm an atheist. So is my husband. He would argue that religion is the biggest con on earth.
My view on this is that how can there be one god if so many different religions exist, and many of them contradict the others. Who's right?
I went to religious CofE schools from primary all the way to secondary and my parents still attend church so I'm not ignorant but Christianity has never struck a cord with me.
A close family member was killed in an attack by some thugs and after going through that and witnessing your family suffer it makes you question 'god'.

6 million jews in WWII - and that is just the tip of the iceberg
I have a real problem with 'miracles'
I know a mormon who will pray at any opportunity...If he loses his glasses, and then finds them 1/2 hour later, he will declare "it is a 'miracle'" - literally an intervention by god.
if a child starves to death, or is raped, is it because god doesn't care?
Are this persons glasses much more valuable than the life of a child? is god so petulant that he will stand aside and allow a child to be raped because no one asked him to help..... or was he too busy finding peoples glasses?

You and I, and the majority of the world's population, may believe in a God but atheists do not feel that there is enough evidence to support his existance so they deny it. Before they believe in the divine being they want proof to back up his presence in this universe. During the time of the prophets, everyone believed, but now that so many years have gone past atheists require evidence again before they can accept even and believe, even though their forefathers would have been devout believers.

John 14:14
You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it
Direct quote from Jesus, the supposed Son of God.
When I still believed I must have prayed everyday in his name and yet my prayers were very rarely answered. This showed to me that either the perfect being lied, therefore was evil, or the being did not exist.
Naturally I would rather believe he did not exist compared to that I was worshipping an evil idol.
Miracles can be explained through coincidence very simply. Their evidence can also be counter balanced by all the devastation to the world brought around by the 'Almighty One' who loves every living thing. Last time I checked, loving everything did not mean one would want to kill everything.

What, pray tell, is 'real' about a God or gods ?
The circles of life should be enough for anyone to live with.

The only real miracle is the miracle that ANYBODY believes in the existence of a god with all the injustices that exists in the world.
Do you honestly expect me to believe in the existence of a "loving, caring god" when lunatics are running amok on this planet and innocent children are being shot to pieces and blown to bits. What kind of "loving, caring god" sits back and allows that to happen?
Please, please stop with the blind faith and open your eyes.

There was a long period of my life that I called myself an "atheist" I didn't understand the bible or its teachings. It took much suffering for me to believe. When I couldn't handle the pain anymore, that's when the miracle began.
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has known what God has prepared for those who love him."
