Doctors are, or should be, there for a lot more than issuing prescriptions. They are also there to advise. A good doctor is delighted to see a patient, examine them, and just tell them things are fine. If you are concerned get a check up.

This sounds like the cold has advanced so it is now moved into the bronchial tubes and into the lungs. I would certainly go get checked out. It may pass on it's own or you may have a secondary infection whether it be pneumonia or bronchitis. It never hurts to have it checked. In school, we used the rule of thumb that if it wasn't getting better after a week, then we probably needed a doctor.

Yes. Sometimes if you cough too much, you can pop or break a rib. This probably hasn't happened, but if your chest hurts when you cough, it is telling you to see a Dr. Hopefully by doing so he will give you something for the cough and pain.

It sounds like a virus but my daughter had these symptoms during the early stages of meningitus, look out for other symptoms, such like, sore neck, a rash that does not fade when pressed, tempreture....better still go to the doctors now..

It would be a good idea. I'm kind of feeling the same way, but I barely cough. I do however feel more congested by the day. So I will be going to the doctor.

I could be a respiratory infection, bronchitis or a possibly pneumonia.
The sore thought could also be post nasal drip. I had that but it didn't turn into a cough.
Sounds, kind of serious to me...

If it was going to pass on its own, it should have started to by now. See a doctor: That sounds like it could be walking pneumonia.
Feel better fast!

Yes, it does sound as if you have an infection. I think a week is long enough to give something a chance to go. I would go and see your doctor. Meanwhile gargle with aspirin, it may help
