Ordered a neighboring army to kill you and everyone in your church because a few of their soldiers decided to become a part of your church?

What if you or one of your loved ones were raped, would you still love God if he said that the rapist was then obligated to pay your father some beef and veggies and then marry you, and you could never divorce the rapist?

Would you still love your pastor if he did those things? How about your neighbor?

Some of your responses show a lack of biblical scripture:

"The Loving God I know would not cause these things to happen therefore I would not have a problem with still loving Him."

"and it's God's fault that men choose evil, how?"

"Wow, you are mixed up dude."

(Numbers 31:7-18 NLT)

They attacked Midian just as the LORD had commanded Moses, and they killed all the men. All five of the Midianite kings – Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba – died in the battle. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword. Then the Israelite army captured the Midianite women and children and seized their cattle and flocks and all their wealth as plunder. They burned all the towns and villages where the Midianites had lived. After they had gathered the plunder and captives, both people and animals, they brought them all to Moses and Eleazar the priest, and to the whole community of Israel, which was camped on the plains of Moab beside the Jordan River, across from Jericho.

Moses, Eleazar the priest, and all the leaders of the people went to meet them outside the camp. But Moses was furious with all the military commanders who had returned from the battle. "Why have you let all the women live?" he demanded. "These are the very ones who followed Balaam's advice and caused the people of Israel to rebel against the LORD at Mount Peor. They are the ones who caused the plague to strike the LORD's people. Now kill all the boys and all the women who have slept with a man. Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves.

(Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT)

If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

Is this NOT your god?

For those that question my mental abilities, I was smart enough to know that you didn't read your bible thoroughly (and hence, reject that your god would do such things or lay down such laws) and I knew you would respond to this question by claiming that 'I' got it wrong. You people don't even know that your savior is not even the original savior for that area. Nor that technically, he's a false prophet that has caused many of you to disobey THE FIRST TWO COMMANDMENTS of your religion. But you're not worried about that. Even though your GOD gave those commandments, a blasphemer called Jesus can change all that by being captured by the Romans and killed like all the other blasphemers and criminals. His death had "meaning!" He died for YOU! Not because he broke the Sabbath and everything else the good God fearing Jews claimed was from god. Nevermind them. They got it wrong, right?

2007-04-13 08:51:40 · update #3

Oh, let's not forget that with these being god's orders, that means that he would have ordered YOUR death, for someone else's actions. Good for you! I sincerely hope you get the chance to die for your god, as long as you don't hurt anyone else.

My dear 1985, even though you did an excellent job trying to defend your position, I never said that god's goodness and evil were equal. I never took the position that god was good. I know it's common to assume that, but I don't.
Second, Jesus did not come to change the law... despite Peter and Paul's attestations that things changed with Jesus. Jesus says that until heaven and earth pass away, not a letter, not an iota, not a dot of the law will change, until all is accomplished. The "Jesus changed everything" theory is unfounded and flat out wrong.
Now, knowing that OT law is still in effect, how do you feel about the above questions?

2007-04-13 10:32:06 · update #5

Also try to remember that god is unchanging, and is now as he was and will ever be.

2007-04-13 10:33:42 · update #6

This means that you are STILL to be considered someone's PROPERTY, and subject to all of the laws of the old testement. Should the Jews decide to invade your town, you may very well become one of someone's wives. Same with your daughter. I know it sounds horrible, but that's the way the law is laid, and this is the path you CHOOSE to follow.

Again, I ask, would you still love if this happened to you?

What if he decided to have a bet with the devil and picked your spouse. He then systematically allowed your family members to be killed and tortured. He took away your lively hood, killed your pets, and finally gave you a disease that made you suffer immensely before you died.

Would your God do that? You might think no, but then you would have to justify the book of Job.

If you believe in the bible, your God has everything to do with allowing horrible things to happen to people. It is not just free will that causes disaster. Babies born in drought ridden 3rd world countries didn't execise free will. God chose to create them.

God created the situation that he knew would cause Eve to sin and would cause evil to enter the earth. Without a knowledge of good or evil, how did Eve exersise free will?

My love for God and the antics of humans are two completely different things.

How people interpret (or misinterpret, as the case may be)God's wishes, is truly astounding, but then, that's people.

Hypotheticals are often so restrictive, discouraging a linear path of thought, and encouraging conjecture.

But as for your question, here goes:

Would God do such a thing? No.

How would I feel if I were victimized and could not freely act on my own? Outside of my chosen denominational/spiritual belief system? Terrible.

While the ideas you present are interesting, they do not take in, or even consider what truth is known about God.

Before I finish that thought, my pastor? I try to love people despite their actions, and as a parent, and as a person, I can tell you I have had more practice at this than I ever wanted. Could have done without it all, in fact.

Loving someone, spouse, family, friends, neighbors, etc. implies that you take the bad with the good.

Would I trust them afterwards? Probably would take years, if not forever.

Would forgiveness come easy? Hah! I'm still working on the fact that my daughter wore my favorite jeans without permission! But do I love her? Now and always.

As for the truth that exists about God: since pretty much everyone has heard that God is a being of love, and all things good, any wrongs perpetuated in his name or for his cause are human fabrication. At least based on what I know. God's word instructs and encourages peace, love, kindness.

Now, unless I am mistaken, this is true: please check this equation for accuracy:

Peace, love, kindess > murder, rape, senseless destruction
If PLK > MRS.D., then PLK =MRS.D. is untrue.

Math is not my area, and someone cute may try to turn that simple equation into something else, but my meaning is clear.

The analogy is unequal and threfore invalid, because the comparison is made about a truth (God), while disregarding the same truth as it exisits (that God is good).

But in conclusion, while I may be upset about my jeans, and am still having touble forgetting the issue, my daughter hasn't heard about it in years, except that I tell her to keep her mitts on her own possessions (it's better than most of my stuff anyway. My clothes are usually always clean, because I am a homebody).

I would do this for a neighbor or a pastor, too. Even if I didn't let them visit, or be alone with me or my girls. God is good, and I'm not stupid.

Hope I helped!

God loves all unconditionally. God gave us loose will understanding finished nicely that every body human beings ought to apply that loose will to split ourselves from the limitless. So why ought to God end loving us if we are only paintings out the loose will that "he" gave to us in the first position. God hopes all us will make a better functional decision and search for oneness with God in place of separation in spite of the indisputable fact that it continues to be our loose gained't to seek this oneness. rather we are all extensions of the limitless, yet we would want to comprehend that interior ourselves before that's a seem reality in our beings. also there is rather little distinction between Christians and Atheists. both deny God. Atheists deny God exists in any respect at the same time as Christians deny God lives interior themselves. They attempt this besides the very shown reality that Jesus said that the dominion of God is interior you.

I would not blame God for these things because the things you mentioned are not the customs of our society. Although in some middle eastern countries they still come close.

The Loving God I know would not cause these things to happen therefore I would not have a problem with still loving Him.

All those things have happened many times to people through out time and nothing that happens to me on earth will keep me from loving God. It cost his blood to get me so i dont have a problem with any trial he may bring into my life although i might not like it .it will make stronger.

I would still love my Lord. Our life is not only in this world.

We all fall short from the glory of God. God would never ask us to do anything unjust.

I would love my Pastor. He would never do such a things though. I am not sure about my neighbors, but I seriously doubt they would be joked like that. I would love them and i would pray the prayer of Jesus:" Father forgive them " : )

That question has nothing to do with God. People here are put on this earth to do with free will. They will judged and punished by God when they die.

Your anger needs to be addressed at your father, neighbors, and that rapist.

I'm sorry for your suffering.

What do these crimes have to do with God? They rather have everything to do with the wickedness and depravity of man. Does Jeremiah 17:9 come to mind? It does to me.
