the way i see it, other atheists and i are the small but correct minority, kind of like those who opposed slavery and those who said the earth is round back in the day, or non-jewish germans who were against the holocaust during ww2. george orwell said "man is infinitely malleable". he illustrated his point in the book 1984 when o'brien tried to convince winston gravity didn't exist. think about it, gravity is the most obvious, undeniable thing there is; you drop something, it falls. you drop it 578 quadrillion times, it will fall 578 quadrillion times. but... imagine that every (and i mean every single one, black, white, young, old, rich, poor, sane, crazy, hot, ugly, healthy, sick, male, female, your friends, your enemies, me, the news, textbooks, scientists, preachers, politicians) told you gravity did not exist. how could you hold on to that belief?

Yes, I think that we will have progressed beyond religion by that time. Unless there is some type of nuclear war or a comet hits the earth. Then we may have regressed to a point where we don't even understand gravity again.

No.
How long has say Christianity been around? Over 2000 years. Why would it go away? If our society is getting so enlightened then why do we still have wars?
I have had an experience with the living God and you, the news, politicians, enemies, textbooks, preachers or anyone else could not convince me there is no God nor could you convince me that he didn't have a son Jesus that died for my sins.
He's real.

I don't know about the year 3000, but in the year 2030, we'll look back upon all the state constitutions that ban gay marriage and scratch our heads. Just like today we can't believe that interracial marriage was ever illegal.

at least I hope we stay on the path to moral enlightenment, and not be continuously mired by bronze age wisdom.

As people today do not think of religion in the year 1000 as being anything like slavery, or really in terms much different from religion today, I don't think that people 1000 years from now should think of religion in markedly different terms. Though the dogma of various religions may change, it's form and prupose in large societies is remarkably stable.

Where in the Bible does it say that gravity does not exist? I don't understand your reasoning. The Bible says the soul that sins will die. That means you and me have an appointment with death that we cannot escape. You have no hope outside of clinging to this mass of rock. I have hope in eternal life that is in the Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son does not.

"The most terrible warning to impenitent men in all the world is the death of Christ. For if God spared not His only Son, on whom was only laid imputed sin, will He spare sinners whose sins are their own?" - Charles Sprugeon

If Christianity survived 2,000 years, why wouldn't it last another 1,000 let alone 10,000 years?

No capital necessary for "atheists", it is not a suited noun;) we are going to on no account comprehend. For all we are able to falsify particular definitions and particular examples of god/s, shall we on no account falsify the assumption of the supernatural specifically, which includes the assumption-approximately such effective beings. on the top of the day, in the event that they did no longer desire to be common, why could they go away a hint shall we stumble on? the superb we are able to declare is at modern we 0 evidence indicating any. in the main regular words an atheist isn't somebody who says there is not any god, in simple terms somebody who sees no reason to settle for that there is one. in the comparable way many believers will totally settle for they are in a position to no longer comprehend there's a god (or are gods finding on their faith), yet they nonetheless have self assurance. sure there are extremeists on the two factors who take the "i comprehend for particular" stance, yet TBH those factors are being as cheating as one yet another. Does what you have self assurance sense right to you? Then circulate with it, i'm hoping your ideals deliver you happiness in of themselves. Does it no longer sense right to you? Then how are you able to truly have self assurance it?

That's not how you cause someone to disbelieve in gravity. You can't cause somebody to disbelieve without giving them something else to believe. For instance in this case you get someone with a convincing voice to give them an alternate explanation for things falling. Then you warp their reasoning either by dietary control or by repetition of a phrase - it really doesn't matter which phrase. Then you have a semi-hypnotised mind which you can feed suggestions to.

It doesn't matter that the alternate reason for things falling isn't believed this time. You keep repeating the treatment until it is believed.

For someone with convincing voice, read religious leader. For alternative explanation, read religion. For repetition of phrase, read chant/affirmation. For repeating treatment, read weekly visit to religious institution.

For gravity, read scientific method. For someone with convincing voice, read religious leader. For alternative explanation, read religion. For repetition of phrase, read chant/affirmation. For repeating treatment, read weekly visit to religious institution.

Mostly I hope it doesn't take another 1000 years to throw these dehumanising con artists in prison.

My guess is that another religion will be popular and they'll look back on Christianity as mythology; like we do with Greek and Roman myth.

I think there's something hardwired in the human mind.
