I'm a Christian, and I believe that Jesus was the SON of God, not God himself.

Explanation: On several occassions, Jesus was faced with someone referring to him as God. And each time, Jesus did not say he was God, but that God was greater than him.
Also, a very well known scripture at John 3:16, it states that God loved the world so much, that he sent his son. It does not state that God sent himself. Wouldn't make sense.
And if Jesus was God, he would've told his disciples to preach just that. But instead, he told them to preach about the good news of HIS FATHER'S KINGDOM.

The Bible tells me that Jesus was born as the result of his mother being made pregnant by the Holy Spirit of God. Therefore, Jesus was at least half God.... As I Christian, I can not pick and choose those things written in my Bible that I do or do not believe....even if I don't always know the necessarily correct interpretation any more than any one else does.

Jesus is the son of God sent to Earth to teach us humans. Jesus is an angel. He was a prophet, but he was a teacher, a healer, and a path to God. Jesus now joins God and the Holy Spirit in heaven.

I believe Jesus was God...because He said so. because He had the authority to forgive....and He could do miracles...He could heal the blind and the sick....He rose from the dead....He was not a lunatic...but a man...who is God...that came in human form. I believe it's so...because Jesus said so. Look at all His names...the Word of God....Lamb of God....Bread of Life...Living Water...do you think a prophet could give u the Bread of Life...or give u the Living Water...no they cant....al they can do is prophesiy. but Jesus DID give the Living Water....and the Bread of Life...You get it when you are saved....in His name, now and forever.

God bless u. =]

EDIT: people...He is the son of God!!! but He is also....God. its called the Trinity...God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. they all are God. ALL OF THEM. dont just say that He was the son of God..because He was...and always will be God...with God the Father...and Jesus the son...and the Holy Spirit. They are NOT gods...they are only God....they all make up...God. but Jesus could have been God without the other 2...because God tells moses...that He is " I AM" when He talks to the samaritan woman...at the well...He tells her that He is the Living Water....a son of the president could not do much...a son of a king should not be praised....but the son of God...should be...because He is not only the son of God the Father...but He is also God...because when people say He is the son of God....people are saying that He is ONLY the son of God the Father..that God the Father is the only God...how do u explain the Holy Spirit? then what is He? God the Father is also a spirit...and so is Jesus...yet...God the Father is God...so who is the Holy Spirit? they are all God. all of them.

Neither. Jesus was the Son of God, not God himself. As the son of God we was also not a mere human.

Read the Gospels please and see that throughout their entirety there is a blazingly clear distinction between Jesus Christ and his Father Jehovah.

Look for Jesus to be praying to his Father before performing his many miracles, before his death. If he was God himself in any form, why pray if he had all things within himself?

Look for Jesus himself to put himself in a relatively inferior position to his father. "the Father is greater than I am", "I do nothing of my own initiative but do the will of him that sent me" (who sent him?)

Look for his worst enemies to accuse him for saying he was God's SON not God himself.

I hope that helps you.

Finally, when Jesus speaks of being one with his Father, he is refererring to unity of thought and purpose. Not unity of being. I mean think about it. The scriptures say that GOD is from Everlasting to Everlasting... Jesus died. Moses said that no man can see God and live, yes they saw Jesus. Jesus died and was resurrected? If he was GOD himself who was it doing the resurrecting?

He was/is (english doesn't have the verb tense) God.

the word He used to descirbe Himself and the Holy Spirit and the Father was "parakletos" meaning "of the same essense and one in the same". He also made claims like "before Abrham was, I am!", "I and the Father are One", "I will destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days".

Plus incidents such as doubting Thomas calling Jesus God and He not denying it, or Satan being rebuked for tempting God in the desert lead you to believe the obvious.

and when God says things in a certain order, it has significance. You'll notice Jesus never calls Himself inferior to God, or God's Son, but "the Son of God". That states that He is equal to God (He didn't deny it when accused of it) which no human is supposed to be, and that He is part of God.

Jesus is a noble prophet of God. He is a miracle in the way he was born, the way he was picked up to the heavens, and the way he’ll come back to earth again.
