Make a home made sauce. 1/2 a stick of butter 1/4 cup of flour and some milk...depending on how much sauce you want. Melt the butter in a sauce pan on medium heat...remove from stove & add flour...be sure that the flour is completely combined with the butter i.e. that it has formed a yellow paste. This will make the sauce thick. Add the milk and place back on the stove on high heat bringing it to a boil. Stir it constantly, if you don't it will burn on the bottom of the pan. Once the milk has began boiling add your cheese. if it is a block cheese cut it into small cubes and add a few at a time; if it is shredded add it at a leisurely amount while still sturing. You'll know that the sauce is done once the milk is no longer watery. Remember the more cheese you add the thicker the sauce!! : ) Makes for a real good sauce. You'll just pour the sauce over your pasta and either put in the oven for a few minutes to backe or serve right away. I find that by putting it in an oven safe bowl with a little bread crumbs is real good.

Here's one thing you can try -- after you've drained the pasta and added the milk, try adding the cheese powder through a flour sifter, making sure to stir the pasta constantly while you're adding the cheese powder.

With Annie's, you really have to make the cream-sauce separate from the pasta; I put it together while the pasta is draining and add enough extra milk to get it the right consistency, and STIR, STIR STIR!

When you drain the pasta, add the cheese and the mix to the pot... turn the pot on low and whisk until smooth. The heat helps smooth it out.
My girls love it!

Let the butter melt first, add milk, add cheese mix slowly while stirring over lower heat. This should help.

I use a whisk to mix together the milk and cheese powder before mixing it with the noodles.

why don't you just use kraft or velveeta mac and cheese? they're always creamy and smooth.
