from practicing their religion while they serve their time? I ask this after a brief discussion with a perons who pointed out to me that the laywer for John Walker Lindh is petitioning the president to cummute his sentence. The man did fight with enemies of our country with intent on hurting fellow Americans. He himself sited his religion as the main factor in his desire to take up Jihad. But this also extends out to other faiths, what about any person who commits a crime in the name of religion? Christian-Fundementalist, Cultists, and wackos of all kinds. Anyone who kills and says it's gods will, or the devil made them do it would fall into this category.

Well I don't know how you could bar someone from practicing their religion but I do think he should be held accountable just like anyone else. If we are going to give religious nutjobs special treatment then everyone will start using that excuse to commit crimes.

well, most religions dont support radicals, or extremists, so if a person commits a crime in the name of his religion, he's most likely doing against the will of the church and its leaders. so I dont think that he should be banned from studying his religion, but a priest/church leader should be allowed to come talk with him, and help him realise that he did something wrong, and it made it even worse to say he did it in the name of the church

Any kind of religion that promotes violence and/or causing harm to yourself and/or others should be investigated and shut down. Such religions should not exist and any member of that faith that commits a crime and/or violent act should be imprisoned.

I'm a baptist and I dont know much about other religions, but I do know for a fact that God would not have me commit murder because it goes against His word and anyone who says that he had is a liar and not of God.
