Windows Vista is pretty cool but I'd still stick with Windows XP. Windows Vista isn't compatible some softwares although it does have some pretty cool graphics. Oh, and it's very expensive... So don't upgrade unless you are really desperate (or in other words, you love to have the newest software programs).

Even if I had a pc strong enough for Vista
I will stick with xp as Vista is resource hungry compared
to xp.
most anything vista can do xp can - at the moment
including the 3d effect and start menu and glass effects
what else is left
xp has no loaded DRM crap that is slowing Vista down
Had xp and Vista doing the exact same work
playing a simple VCD movie
xp can play the movie full screen no problem
vista will choke going full screen
understand my laptop isn't the best yet come on
no other apps running and it can't play a basic movie format.
That shows me its a resource hog
no matter what system speed you have.

This is easy. IT SUCKS. I have had so many people complain about this. Getting a new computer without Vista is getting harder to do, but some companies are beginning to offer it based on problems. My suggestion, get a Mac...it can run window programs as well as is so much better. My advice, stay away from Vista

I was seriously against Windows Vista... but I finally upgraded my home computer, and I like it.
I hate to admit I like it... but I have no serious complaints... EXCEPT...
1. Some software (which is not even that old... less then a year) will not work.
2. Too many security warnings.
3. Slower then XP

I not getting Vista until maybe a year or year and a half from now when they work some of the bugs out and there's more compatible software and hardware available for it.
For now I staying with XP and W2K. Right now I'm trying Ubuntu see how good it plays. Might even keep it or maybe dual boot it.

Well till now its just a fancy thing and no proffesional computer user should go for it, it has many problems many softwares and even skype does not work properly with it, the official version of yahoo for vista is still due, most of the devices give problems, you can not edit the boot menu later on, it gives hell lot of problem and last of all it is resources hungry, but if all the problems above get solved who cares for resources.

I was at Costco's and I saw it on some computers. I checked it out. I don't really know all about the new software, but the graphics were pretty cool. I liked the backgrounds and images they had on there. The new software looked pretty cool. I don't think I'd buy it, though. I like Windows XP.

well i think it's almost like mac but hey ... i am a women
anyways i think it's not all sad yet... it's brand new and is still being tried out. people having lots of problems because it's not running with all the soft wares that xp runs with.
one of my friends ruined his whole really expensive computer because the things didn't work with each other.
i personal think it's pretty nice, good ideas but wait until it's good for sure. things that are brand new are cool to have but not always convenient.
good luck
