They help contribute to the problem. However, there are many people in America who are also contributing. I often get puzzled when I see someone living in a section 8 house, living off welfare, food stamps, etc, yet drive a navigator, have big screen TVs etc. It's every person who commits welfare fraud, whether they're legal or illegal. Yet the illegals contribute by not paying taxes and expecting medical care which drives up health care costs that many Americans can now not afford.

Depends on how your looking at it...World War 2 we allowed Vietnam war victims to come to America and we gave them Top Jobs and Nice houses to live in..did they earn it? They didn't start at the bottom and work their way up like everybody else does...so yes they took a job from an educated person who then had to downsize and basically push the line back instead of forward! Illegal immigrants come to US at 65 years of age and given Social Security that they haven't earned and the citizen who has worked all their life and ready to enjoy free time has to FIGHT to survive in their own country...how fair is that? So yes Immigration(illegals) can help create poverty.

Yes, we are losing our middle class in the US, and illegal immigration is a mitigating factor.
Illegal aliens glut the work force with cheap labor, which drives wages down for everyone in low and middle income jobs. The swollen population creates a housing shortage, which makes rents go up in low and middle income areas. So you make less money and pay more for a place to live.
Illegal aliens take jobs away from the lower income level workers, according to all recent studies, illegal aliens take jobs away from first: low income Blacks, and second: low income US born hispanics (first and second generation), in poverty stricken areas and inner cities.
The result is those Blacks and US born hispanics are forced onto welfare, when they cannot find employment in their area, and do not speak spanish, when all the jobs in their area begin to require "spanish speaking" as part of the job description.
The low income becomes the NO-income, becomes the welfare burden for the US taxpayer, which means those US citizens at middle income level jobs, which thusfar, illegal aliens have not yet moved into and taken over, have more and more taxes taken out of their already diminishing paychecks to pay to support more and more citizens who have no low income job opportunities, and no prospects.
It's a lose lose situation, and a net drain on our economy.

yes the definatly do. Also to add to that- they drain the welfare system so Americans, who fall on hard times, have nothing left to recieve. I think they like to live in poverty areas, and pretend to be poverty stricken so that they can continue to have babies and live off state help. Which we willingly hand out in lumps. Then the man gets an under-the-table job so that they dont have to report any income and get more food stamps and section 8

Illegals are paid wages under the tables sometimes, and with that kind of salary, THEY live in poverty.

They don't create it, they bring it with them hoping to lose it or pass it on to someone else.
