I'm losing my faith. I try to be a rational person, but is there no rationality in Biblical teachings?

Of course there is. But not all Christians are really Christians. That's why u're so confused.
What can I say? Pray to God for help. If u have a sincere heart u will find the truth. An advice: use his name, Jehovah.

Yahoo Answers is not the best place to see logic in Christianity. I see much logic in my religious beliefs, but my beliefs make up a minority of the beliefs here.

I would suggest you look at teachings from Christianity by people that are more rational than people here. There are many good general Christian books, such as Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis you could read.

"A testimony (faith) is a most precious possession because it is not acquired by logic or reason alone, it cannot be purchased with earthly possessions, and it cannot be given as a present or inherited from our ancestors. These promptings of the Spirit, rather than human logic alone, will be the true foundation upon which our testimony will be built."
- Dieter F. Uchtdorf

There is plenty of rationality in Biblical teachings. Sounds like you need a new denomination. Christians embrace a wide range of interpretations, from the entirely literal to the entirely allegorical. Study some different points of view before you throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Because of the nature of God and his plan, knowledge of the truth must come by faith first. But if this is not enough for you, I suggest that you read the book Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis. He was a very intellectual atheist who converted to Christianity. His book brings up many common questions that people like yourself have, and addresses them in a way that is very logical.

For example: Christianity is probably the most illogical religion when compared to other world religions. (i.e. Why would we need someone to die for our sins, why do we have so many commandments, etc. etc.) His answer is simply, only the true religion would seem the least logical to intellectuals! Especially when it has gained so many millions of followers and endured for centuries. In a nutshell he says, How can we as humans understand all the powers and reasoning of a Supreme Being anyway?

I don't usually try to argue the truthfullness of my religion to others, because I believe that the sure knowledge of the truth will come only through sincere prayer to your Father in Heaven. He will make it known to you if you exercise a little faith.

Best of luck to you!

Not really,Christianity and Islam don't agree with the theory of evolution, used to believe that the sun rotated around the Earth, and that the Earth is flat. Both Christianity and Islam believed in this theory.I am a Hindu and my religion accepts the theory of evolution(in a way) and the theory of heliocentrism(The Earth rotates, not the sun) thousands of years before the time of Charles Darwin,Galileo Galilei, and Nicolaus Copernicus.Amazingly some people still today believe that the Sun is moving regardless of scientific proof.

Have you ever tried reading Timothy McDermott's paperback "Selected Philosophical Writings by Thomas Aquinas"? Most people who want "rational" approaches to Religion in general or Christianity in particular do not want to go through the work of reading one of Christianity's more important rational expositors.

Logic has nothing to do with faith... Logic is based on rationalization... How can you rationalize something you don't understand... It is futile... Don't look at the Bible like it's a textbook... The Bible will send a message to your heart... not your mind... I thought I was losing my faith b/c I didn't go to church as much... or didn't read the Bible as much... But I later realized my faith is still there... It's only my spirit that has been fading... The spirit needs food... "Daily Bread" if you will... You will not find the food for your soul by rational thought... but through the application of your faith in your life... You will be revitalized... Stay strong, and pray for guidance.

You have answered your own question, and I agree with you, there is no rationality in Biblical teachings. Its all dogma and no matter how ridiculous it is, it is accepted with faith only, no prove whatsoever.
Keep loosing your faith, it the best awakening to truth you can have,.

There is a different yet perfect logic that comes from understanding the Bible. It's a way of knowing that makes the doubt side of the belief totally unbelievable. If you try to make sense of the knowledge in the good book with a carnal or science like mind, you will fail. You need to use a different resource in your thinking to be able to make sense of the writings and the connection they all share throughout time. It's not analysis but realization. The Bible is not read so much with the mind but with the heart. You have to be in the right place to receive the "logic."

There is very much rationality in Biblical Teachings. You need to study the Bible for yourself. I have been so enlightened since I studied it, and God has spoken so much more to me through His Word. There are Pastors out there that just tell you what you want to hear, and then there are Pastor who are told what they can, and can't preach by the parishioners. Satan wants you to turn away from God. He wants you to doubt God. If he can do that then he has won. When we serve the Lord we go through more trial and temptations, because Satan wants to destroy you, and make you take others with you. People watch us more, and when they see us not be strong, then they say why be a Christian. God bless you as you search for the truth.

Not really.
It may be painful to realise to some though. But in the longrun as a rationally thinking person, you will realise that a loss of faith will in fact not be a loss at all.
But that realisation may take some time.

It did for me.
