The cultures of Bible times, especially Old Testament. did not number years the way that we do. They would use events or rulers to number years. Such as, it happened in the three year of Bill Clinton, or it happened five years before the Latrina Hurricaine.
So unless you have a complete timeline of every event and every ruler, it becames difficult to date such events. (Same is true of most non-Bible historical events form before the time of Christ. And even many afterwards). So it is impossible to give an absolute date.
Some Bible scholars have used the genealogies of Genesis to attempt to arrive at a date. But we know from other genealogies all through the rest of the Bible, that often names were dropped and they jumped from important person to important person, rather then generation to generation, the reliability of the genealogies can be questioned.
But the usual figure using the genealogies is that about 2000 years passed between Adam and Noah. Historically, that is about the same length of time as is covered by the entire rest of the Bbible)

You can do the math
From creation to the birth of Seth (Adams son) is 130 years.
When Seth was 105 years he had Enosh
When Enosh was 90 years he had Kenan
When Kenan was 70 years he had Mahalalel
When Mahalalel was 65 years he had Jared
When Jared was 162 years he had Enoch
When Enoch was 65 years he had Methuselah
When Methuselah was 187 years he had Lamech
When Lamech was 182 years he had Noah.

We calculated this with our youth group a few weeks ago. It was approximately 930 years. Interesting enough, Adam would have died the year of the flood. Imagine the changes Adam saw.... He walked in the perfect garden with God at the beginning of his life and at the end of his life saw the world so corrupt that every thought of man was continually evil. And we think we have seen huge changes in our lifetime!
To find this number we added up the ages of the fathers when each descendant in Noah's line was born, up to the time of the flood.

I've read that Adam was supposed to have been about 600 years old when the Great Flood occurred.
This is despite the claim that Adam was supposed to have lived for 900 years???

My Bible says that is undated. I couldn't help you, but maybe God doesn't want us to know. There are a lot of things that we don't know.
