I dont have an external aerial available to me. I live in Ealing West London so the signal shouldnt be too bad like if I live in teh Yorshire Moors or something. I can get a snowy picture with a relatively good table top aerial but wanted better so I bought this ArcSoft Media DVB aerial. I cannot get any reception at all now. Any advice anyone can give, and can anyone advise if they have had this product and ther successes and failures with it? Would have liked to have watched TV this weekend as this great weather is a killer for us hayfever sufferers and I need to stay indoors! Any help greatly appreciated!!

Do as I did and take it to get your money back.
I installed one on my brand new Advent laptop. After 5 hours of it just searching (Both connected to indoor and outdoor Antennae) I gave up. The bloke at PC world said that it was a common problem, as I had Windows Media Edition and that causes problems with the hardware. Maybe its a similar problem with yours. Afterwards I had to reinstall Windows, with the loss of all of my settings as I had lost Media Edition Features in the process.

It's down to one of two things, the drivers or the aerial. Reinstall the drivers, if that doesn't work you know it's the aerial. These sticks are notorious for not providing good reception without an external lead. Try to get your computer to the highest avilable point in the house. Experiment with different positions. You can always buy a cheap indoor aerial and connect it. If all else fails why not watch the tv channels on the internet.

I have one of these. I get good results 16 km away from a 2,000 watt transmitter, but only because I have an outside aerial (atop a 14 storey tower block). With analogue TV as the signal weakens the picture gradually gets snowier until no longer watchable. With digital there is a sudden point at which the signal is too weak to be usable. This is called the edge of the cliff effect. Even with a good outdoor aerial you may not get all Freeview channels because until the analogue is switched off, some freeview channel groups are being transmitted out- of -band and need a wideband aerial to receive them. Also digital is not on full power yet until analogue is switched off. Here is a link to help you.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure, but alot of usb devices which state "usb 2.0 compatible" are ussally backwards compatible with older usb, but obviously slower.
