Ever since Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans (aka NOLA) has been crime ridden. The devastation of that Hurricane is still being felt there although it now fails to get as much media attention. Per capita, New Orleans is crime central these days. And surprising, Philadelphia has gotten a lot worse, and is now up there among the crime hubs. In the 80s, NYC was up there, but ever since Mayor Rudy swarmed the NYC streets with police, the crime rate is extremely low these days.

New York City has the lowest crime rate among the ten largest cities in the United States.[64] The city has seen a continuous trend of decreasing crime since 1991, with violent crime dropping 75% since then. Neighborhoods that were once considered dangerous are now much safer. The murder rate in 2005 was at its lowest level since 1963. Overall, New York City had a rate of 2,802 crimes per 100,000 people in 2004, compared with 8,960 in Dallas; 7,904 in Detroit; 7,402 in Phoenix; 7,347 in San Antonio; 7,195 in Houston; 5,471 in Philadelphia; 4,376 in Los Angeles; and 4,103 in San Diego.[65]

Detroit is so bad that cars are cheaper than houses in the detroit city limits but I would have to go with St louis as the city that really scares @%$ out of a person. Gary, Indiana Is also a complete dump but it don't think it's big enough to rank with the other two

Patticha and Charlie are correct. Mexico city is like each and every greater city interior the worldwide, use worry-unfastened experience and you'd be ok. on the subject of cameras, I see no issue taking photos interior the steet, I do it for all time. you would be surprised on the variety of human beings donning cameras, the two pocket length and greater, even expert photographers with great kit. additionally, human beings is often taking photos with their state-of-the artwork cellular telephones, so which you is actual no longer the exception taking photos interior the line. merely be careful as you would be everywhere else. in my view, once I commute I consistently shop my mid-length digicam in my handbag, on each and every occasion i'm no longer making use of it. the two in Europe, US or Mexico, worry-unfastened experience is a might desire to. savour!

For the people who keep posting wikipedia stats, please read before you post, that only has homocide rates in order.
Burglary - Houston, TX
Theft - New York, NY
Vehicles Stolen - Los Angeles, CA
Arson - " "
Rape - New York, NY
Robbery - New York, NY
Assualt - New York, NY
Homocide - New York, NY
Total Violence - New York, NY
Honestly New York will have the highest rates for almost everything considering its population density being 8 million and only having 500sq miles to live in. Houston 2 mil and 600sq mi, Chicago 3 mil and 200 sq miles. LA 4 mil 500 sq mi. Just compare for youself and you will see why people are pissed in some cities, you have more space to live, you are happier, you get cramped in a 500sq ft apartment that you have to pay a grand for you get upset. Just my opinion
