Bring some cash, depending on where you visit, you can get a lot more when you make purchases using American currency in Mexico. Use your ATM card if you need more cash while you're there, you will get the best conversion rate, but they may charge you a fee for using the ATM and for converting the currency. Have a good time in Mexico.

It depends upon where you are going. You can get pesos from ATMs in Mexico using your US ATM card. You can convert money at Mexican banks, too. You can also pay with US dollars. I would use credit cards as much possible and take as little cash as necessary. But, how much money you will need for a week in Mexico depends upon where you are going, where you are staying and what you intend on doing while you are there. Drinking cervezas under a palapa on the Pacific coast is very cheap compared to shopping at Fendi in the Polanco/Chapultapec district of Mexico City.

That depends on how long you intend on staying, what you plan to purchase and the like. We went to monterey. Took $500, changed into Pesos. Your money goes farther that way, and in my opinion that is the best way to go. We were there two weeks thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. They also use the various credit cards we use here in the states.

If you are going to buy from the vendors at the piramids you should have some cash on you. I didn'y bring much and then couldn't buy some things I wanted. There were no ATMs near by.
