I filed my taxes way back in february and I still have not got my taxes back, whats going on!! I'm only 17 and im not getting much back, like a little over $300, but money is money. And my uncle just got a thing in the mail saying he owes money, when after filing his at the bank, they said he would be recieving the amount it says he owes. I heard there was a scam thing going on but im just trying to set things straight.

Hey, people - let up a little, don't pick on Chuck, he's asking a fair question.
Chuck, go to irs.gov and click on "where's my refund" for info on what's going on with your refund. If your tax return was filed wrong and you don't have a refund coming after all, you should have gotten a letter telling you why. If it was correct, you should have gotten it by now if you filed in February.
Your uncle can call his problems a scam - more likely, he was trying to scam, and got caught at it, or just made an honest mistake and claimed a refund he wasn't entitled to. Or somebody just looked at the form wrong, and told him the correct number but told him he'd get it back but it's really what he owes - he can look at the tax form, and see what it says, refund or owes.

You can call the IRS toll free (automated) and answer a few questions and they will let you know when your taxes will be sent out, or it will let you know if they have garnished your taxes for monies owed some where else.

if youre taxes arent set up to go to direct deposit (which takes like a week to get to you after you file) then they have to snail mail it and that takes much longer...6-8 weeks?
if youre really worried call them..the IRS or whoever.

Go to the IRS's website. It will tell you the status of your taxes.
As for your Uncle, he needs to contact the IRS as well to clarify.

I'd contact the IRS. They can tell you where your claim is in the process. You might even be able to track it on the internet.
