Hopefully one that their father and I would enjoy too. By the way, something we can rent not go to the theatre.

I'm a little conserned with why a 12 year old boy would be hanging out with 9 ten year old girls

Shrek and Shrek 2 are my favorites. They're kid-friendly, but still hilarious for adults. There is a little bit of innuendo, but I should hope kids at that age don't understand enough to pick up on them!

Happy Feet just came out--also a good choice for the whole family, and much safer than Shrek movies if you're worried about it. Over the Hedge is good too. A lot of kids' movie makers are taking the hint and making "family" movies enjoyable for adults too. =)

I like the older ones: Legend (with Tom Cruise), The Neverending Story, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Princess Bride. Oldies but goodies!

Anything by Pixar or Disney they have a lot of cute movies the whole family can enjoy, either that or go to the family section in the rental store and read the rating and read the back descriptions : )

"Clean" is a relative term. I think every movie has the potential to be objectionable - I loved Happy Feet, and then read a blog somewhere about how sexual and adult-oriented it was. WTH?

Anyway, my 7 year old and I both own and love to watch the following movies:
Neverland (Johnny Depp)
Ever After (Drew Barrymore)
Finding Nemo
Madagascar (funny!)
Polar Express (we watch it all year long)
March of the Penguins
Narnia (that was just awesome)
All Harry Potter (I don't care who thumbs me down for that one. They're fun and I love 'em.)

Hope those give you a few good ideas. Have fun!

Last Mimsy and Bridge to Theribitia were good ones in the theater and Over the Hedge is a great one on video.

The new movie 'Flushed Away' is really cute. Myself, my husband, two 11 year old boys, two 13 year old girls, and even my 16 year old and his gf got a kick out of it. It's annimated and just out.

If you haven't seen Over the Hedge - get it. My children and I love it. My 19 year old brother watched it. And my 27 year old sister bought it.
It's great.
Also, although I'm sure you've already seen them ...
Shrek or Shrek 2

Blood Royal Princess. Na, just kidding! But their father might enjoy it.
