I'm an atheist, and 90% of my school friends are as well. Do you think it's just coincidence, or do you think atheists tend to naturally flock together, especially as teenagers. We started to hang together before we knew we were all atheists, and then once one person came out, everyone else did to. or are there just more teenage atheists than I thought? I'm just interested in hearing another opinion on this matter.

Unfortuantely I think you may be right. More and more teenagers are atheist. With our nations television shows and movies making all Christians look like fanatics and fools teenagers are getting the wrong impression of what it's all about.
Most of you have probably never sat down and talked to somebody about the truth. You don't have any idea what the real deal is all about.
Your teachers can't talk to you without losing their jobs, and I'm guessing that yur parents probably are giving any direction in this matter.
We are not all pushy freaks. But some people worry so much about saving you that they cram it down your throat. That type tends to do more harm than good.
i wish I could sit with you and talk, but baring that I will pray that you give Christianity a chance and do a little investigating of your own.

Atheist is simply another group. Every person who has a belief or no belief is in some kind of a group, no matter how individual you want to claim to be. You might want to let people of other beliefs or some beliefs in. Diversify your group some.

I am a Christian, I have dear people who are in my life that are Christian, Catholic, Atheist, Gay, young and old, etc. etc. etc. If you have good friends you will appreciate each others differences and learn from one another. Real life is much better than this R & S forum, lol. :)

I know that in high school, none of my friends worried about missing church on Sunday. But that may be a more teenage feature than an atheist one. Now that I think about it, while I know the denomination most of my friends belonged to, I don't know whether they actually believed any of it. No one was especially pious, that's for sure.

Hard to say. Usually friends are similar along a number of dimensions. You may just have happened to find the other atheists in your school, or your region may happen to have a larger number of atheists than others.

There's no way that I can give you a researched answer to your question, but my guess is that a great many people are breaking away from the old fashioned superstitions of their parents, but pretend to go along with the beliefs in order to not disappoint the parents.
Away from the parents, they'll come out with their doubts and disbeliefs.

Atheists do tend to get on better with each other than religious people. The main reason is probably because we are more tolerent of each others differences.

People who are alike come together. At the same time, some of you have stronger personalities and exert a subtle influence on the rest.

It's like the emperor's new clothes.

Once the one person intelligently looks at religion and goes "this is retarded"
Then the rest of the people who were blindly following will also open their minds and realize that "that guy is naked"
