2.Daily Manna from the 'Net for Friday, April 13, 2007
Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. 'If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings. Isaiah 59:9-12

If you are looking for SPIRITUAL readings, don't cut yourself off from the scriptures of other religions.
If you are looking for reinforcement for your Christianity, that's another story. To broaden your scope, I would suggest some of the Early Writings by such people as:
Origen (c.185-c.253),
Augustine of Hippo (c.354-c.430)
Pseudo-Dionysius (early sixth century)
John of the Cross (1542-91)
If you are looking for spiritual wisdom I would suggest that you might like to start with something outside of the strict confines of Christianity, such as:
Ralph Waldo Emerson or
one of the other American Transcendentalists,
The Upanishads are AWESOME! (Hindu.)

I tell you something that I heard a preacher say years ago and its helped me and so many. Read a Proverb every day till you are thru them all, and read a Psalm every day till you are thru them, and pray. Thru them all, you will gain so much insight about God and His plan for us in this life, and it really gets your motor up and running again Glad to hear you are in church, but do remember the only words that matter are the words of GOD. Sometimes in church, there is so much truth, and often much error. Just check everything against the word of God to know what is TRUE, and ask God to reveal.....

No matter how I say it, it will sound like I'm being silly, which, just for once, I'm not.
