Tourettes is lifelong and there is not a cure. It is migratory. It is not degenerative. You MIGHT have it, but keep a log of your symptoms. Then go to see a Neurologist. Tourettes is diagnosed by oral history from you and observation in the Dr.'s office. There is not "one" test for diagnosis. You may be asked to have an EEG or other tests, but these can only rule out other disorders, which might be helpful.

I have noticed that you have placed your question in the Mental Health category. Tourettes is not a mental illness. It is Neurological, or to be more specific, Neurobiological. Think of it this way: Your software is fine (mental capabilities, aptitude for learning), but your hardware is wired incorrectly and this causes motor and/or vocal tics.

Having TS is not the worst thing in the world. I have spent some time in a Pediatric Neurology waiting room, and I have learned to count my blessings and pray for others.

It sounds possible. The motor tics (twitching) and vocal tics (clearing your throat) are the most common symptoms of Tourette's. For some people, these tics can be very subtle. The spontaneous swearing (coprolalia) that you always hear about on TV is usually the rarest symptom.
You should contact your doctor and ask about it. Probably wouldn't hurt.

It's one of the symptoms of touretts's..but there are several other options too like a stress disorder, It may be a good thing to get evaluated regardless, there is a lot of help out there now. My neighbors son has tourette's and he usualy isn't even aware of the small constant verbal tick he has.

I don't know what this could be but any time you suspect something, you should see your doctor. This is your health here!
