Is it worse? I ask because my tonsils are gone and have been for a year or two, and my throat hurts really bad, I'm just wondering if when you get them removed it's like a "You won't get sore throats as much but when you get them they're way bad" type thing.

No, sore throats are not worse because you've had your tonsils removed.

Having your tonsils out don't prevent sore throats. The tonsils are a site that tends to hold infection. The common cause of sore throat is sinus infection and the drainage into the throat. Keep yourself hydrated and use a cool mist humidifier. You can take an over the counter sinus medication and use a saline mist to help. Good luck.

Why were your tonsils removed? mine were removed because they would swell and touch and i had trouble breathing. when i have a cold, or the flu, my throat still hurts. there are different reasons for your throat to be sore, depending on whats wrong with you. when your tonsils are gone, they wont be sore anymore, but your glands are still there so those can swell and hurt.
