I am 12 yrs old, and want to know if i am overweight.
I am 5ft 6in tall.
It's all in my stomach.
My mom's and dad's side are both pretty heavy.
I think my weight is why i havn't gotten a boyfriend.
I am soo beside myself.
Any tips on what to do?

You aren't. Often, a lot of 12 year olds have fat in their stomachs because they're about to go through a growth spurt. But, if you're worried about it, start exercising and eating healthier. If you want to be thin, remember that your attitude must be positive, not "I suck, I can't get a boyfriend because I'm overweight", because then you won't lose any weight. Just think positive and make sure you have healthy habits, and from there, you'll be fine. If your lifestyle is healthy, then don't worry. :)

overweight is usually 30lbs or less than your ideal weight. I think for your height it's between 145-165. so from what you say you are probably a little overweight. ummm...you can search on yahoo answers or in the diet and fitness sections and there are some really good answers as to what you can do. most of them say eat less and exercise more. usually you have to eat/work off 500 calories a day. Like if you consume 2000 calories a day, each day of the week you need to burn off or eat less than that. That would be about 1500 calories and you would lose around 1-2 lbs a week.

Everyone has a different build, and it sounds like your a fairly tall kid! Lots of tall people weigh more then shorter people and they are still fit and in shape. Sounds like you have some extra weight on your tummy though. That's OK, you aren't done growing yet either, but considering it seems like your family has a weight problem i would try to stay active and eat healthy. some times just getting outside and walking your dog, or playing soccer or another sport can make a big different in how you look and feel... good luck!

Most people confuse overweight and obese.
Overwieght- when the body's fat percentage is over 10% of what it should be. (to find your body fat percentage or (BMI) you can look on google and type in "BMI calculator". It isn't 100% accurate but it is the closest thing next to under water weighing.

Obese- Excessive amounts of body fat and fat cells.

*the confusing part is that someone who looks healthy could actually be obese due to their height and weight proportians.*

-TIP- Just try looking at height and weight charts for people your age. (look them up on google) But, just keep in mind that this is an average and everybody is different.

Watch what you put it,exercise to burn up what you need to. Don't be in such a hurry for a boyfriend! They're pretty dorky at that age, anyway! Have a great day! ;-)=

this work!, what ever you eat, "only eat half" and put in your mind that is all your going to eat, 20 mins. after eating dinner walk the block, never eat after 6:00, if you snack after dinner, eat a bowl of cereal. set rules and stick to them!

at 5'6 you should weight around 130, give or take 5 pounds. eat healthy and exercise every day.
