Have you got a bipolar support group? My husband attends Bipolar Anonymous and a couple of other groups in our area.

It has really helped him feel less alone in combatting the illness, helped him get practical advice about the issues you guys face from others who have faced them and solved them, and about how to manage the stigma, the stress and the medications.

He also had to reduce stress. He got into a very structured job where he leaves his responsibilities when he leaves work. He got rid of his weekend responsibilities (yardwork, etc.) by hiring someone.

Check out what is available in your area by searching "bipolar resources" and the name of your town. Educate yourself on what is available to you in the form of support. Don't give up.

I don't know of any treatment other than those mentioned. they need to be done together, both medication and counseling.

the only other thing to help you is to make those in your life you care about understand about your condition.
