my guess would be that you own a model 5, and the c57 could stand for classic model made in 1957. im just guessing here so dont take this for fact. if you can get the model number i have the gun traders guide and i could get you a value. e-mail if you want.

It's all about parts and repair services. If your Saiga breaks on you, you're going to pay a lot of money for service. That is...IF you can find the foreign-made parts. For a new 12 gauge, I would go with either a Remington 870 or a Mossberg 500. Both can be had new in the box for under 300 dollars when the retailers are running their sales. AND, in either case, you can just ship a broken gun back to the factory for FACTORY AUTHORIZED repair work.

One thing for certain, don't sell it until you have had it ID'd and appraised. You can start by googling Browning or you can write to Browning or you can send a picture of it and all identifying marks to the NRA and wait for a response. Some manufacturers will post list of serial number groups that gives the year or manufacture.

It may be worth only a few hundred dollars but it could also be one of those that a collector might pay an arm and a leg for.
