You make the mistake of assigning much importance to the opinions of others. Love God, read the gospels, and practice your religion. You don't need anyone else's permission or approval to do that.
Go with God.

I'm Catholic, so I can't speak for the fundies. However, I do know that if you are an active homosexual, your lifestyle is condemned by God in Scripture. He calls it an "abomination."
Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Romans 1:27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty fo their error which was due
I also know that the "god" in your heart may or may not be the God of the Bible. Many people deceive themselves into believing that what they are doing is acceptable to God and that He will not have anything to say about their lifestyles. In essence, they have created their own god and worship it, not the sovereign Lord of the universe.
Having said all that, I will agree with you that your actions are between you and the living and true God. No one else can judge you or send you to hell. You are, however, responsible for your own actions, and they will either justify or condemn you on the Day of Judgment.

If your 'faith' is tailored to your life-style, it shouldn't matter what anyone else believes. If you're playing 'scrabble' without a dictionary, you can create your own words at will.
If your 'faith' is based on Biblical principals, then you may want to re-read some of the Pauline letters and OT books to determine what God's word says about homosexuality.
I'm not the Judge. Your decisions are yours. Do what you will. I'd suggest if you claim to be a Christian, you will only help yourself by reading God's word. A dictionary helps when playing 'scrabble'.

Well, from my Christian days I recall something about beware false prophets. If there is any truth to that - I would venture to guess that fundies are exactly what the bible was warning people about. But that's just my opinion. So if they're preaching hate and causing grief, IMO - they're not the real deal. You, on the other hand, are a better person and most likely a better Christian. So don't let them take your faith away from you.

Dude. Fundies ruin everything for everybody. It's their "thing." If you know you are going to heaven, and your God is a loving God who will not allow you to burn in eternal torment but will see you for who you are, and not what your sexual preference is, then you have nothing to worry about. If your God is omniscient, He knew you were going to be gay even before He made you, so what did He expect?
I notice how Christians say all can be forgiven if you accept Jesus Christ, but for some reason they think being gay is an exception... it's all nonsense and bigotry to me. Hang in there.

No, if you read what it says in the bible, that is what CHRISTIANS are going by, not by what they think is right. It is what God has said about homosexuality. People that seem to turn away from church, probably just do not want to hear the truth because( stay with me) in reality, the truth does hurt. Yet if we open our heart and realize God is just protecting us, we can then hear the truth.

"there is no doubt in my mind that when I die, I will go to heaven. I am also gay."
On what do you base this self-assurance? On the Bible? If you are basing it on emotion or positive thinking, you are building your house on sand. You can knock the fundies all you want, but they are just trying to warn you that your foundation shifts and the consequences are eternal.

Your question is exactly why I asked a question earlier about WHY gay people choose to become Christian. In my religion gay people are accepted and loved as God's children. We do not consider homosexuality a sin but a natural sexual variation just as valid and Divinely purposed as heterosexuality.
So, for me (no offence to Christians) it seems like a form of self-hatred and persecution for someone who is gay to associate with people who think they are evil and degenerate and want them to repress their innate sexuality, live lonely celibate lives or force themselves to like the opposite sex (Ew! As a straight woman, I cannot imagine forcing myself to be gay, so I must imagine it must be equally icky and traumatic for poor gay people to force themselves to be straight)
Why would you torture yourself like that sweetie?
You KNOW you are a good person. You KNOW you did not choose to be gay. You KNOW you are capable of love and that God loves you.
So what are you going to do, believe in someone's bigoted lies about yourself or believe in what you KNOW to be true?
Christians have been wrong about so many things throughout history. Remember Galileo. He KNEW that the earth was NOT the centre of the universe and it revolved around the sun. The Christians pointed to their bible and doctrine and threw him in prison. It turned out they were wrong.
But I have a good feeling about you. You have already made the distinction between religion and your own personal spiritual relationship with the Creator. That's a BIG step in the right direction. Best of luck!

I dont think you'll go to hell but I do believe you've broken one of the 10 commandments. Idolatry, you've made a God up that will condone you being gay and the bible simply states it as a sin. I do know that people like to use in lev that eating shellfish was a sin, but in the new testament Jesus declared all food clean, but he didn't say that it was OK to gay

Why are you going to heaven? What qualifies you for heaven? How do you go to heaven?
Nothing can take your heart from God but yourself.
