Sort of, but to be honest, owls can't see perfectly at any time of day. they have very bad eyesight, it's a bit like looking through a badly tuned in, saturised t.v, they can't see detail, only rough shapes. But they can see like that no matter how dark or bright it is.

By the way. there are over 130 different species of owls and less than half of them are strictly nocturnal.

Yes owls can see just fine during the day.many times they will hunt during morning and early evening hours. The iris of the owls is designed to open larger then most all birds. To aid in night hunting this adaptation doesn't have anything to do with how far the iris can shut.So seeing in the day is extremely sharp as well.Owls do not hunt by sight only. The feather dishes around their eyes helps to focus sound directly to the ear. This allows them to pinpoint sound to an exact place.

Yes, they can see as well as any hawk during the daylight. They have the added benefit of being able to see that well at night too. Owls do occasionally hunt during the day and are not impair in any way.

Of course it's true, owls aren't blind. Neither are bats. It's just that they've evolved to be nocturnal animals because this is when their prey is out and about. They can see fine in the daylight but far, far better than us in the dark.

the only time i saw an owl out in the daytime was at a theme park, and they had it in a darker area. so sorry im not quite sure, i think they have night vision like bats, but i am not positive so dont take my word on it. ill try to find out for you though.i am asking people and i am getting mixed answers so i dont know. but if it helps i used to see them at night outside at my old house and they lived in the trees near us and i never saw them in the day time so connect this which ever way you want.

yep. They can control the size of their iris just like any other animal, and so have no problem seeing during the day. They do not, however, see colors. They see black, white and greys.
