Ok, so last night I was doing too many things at once, I guess, and before I knew it my house was filled with smoke from some popcorn I was trying to cook in the microwave. Anyways, I raced around my apartment opening all my doors and windows, I turned on my ceiling fans, and I turned on my A/C to get the air circulating. So, after the smoke cleared, which took about an hour. I still smelled burnt popcorn. I lit candles and sprayed air freshner into the air, but with no success. Will the smell eventually go away? I have a cold, so my nose is all stuffed up, but I still smell the burnt popcorn. I went to work today and I think I smell like it now! Also, does anyone know how to get the butter stains out of the microwave? I have used Windex, a Orange-scented degreaser, and Scrubbing Bubbles, bc that was all I had. I am never cooking popcorn again!! Thanks ahead of time and sorry so long!!

Your microwave probably smells of burnt popcorn. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a small bowl of water, microwave on low for 5 minutes. The steam will coat the microwave. Open, and wipe. Lemon is a natural freshener and is recommended for getting rid of order.
Also, you may want to squeeze the juice from the other half into a small pan of water and let it boil to help cleanse the air in your apartment. Of course, watch the pan carefully and turn off when the water boils away.

The smell of burnt ANYTHING permeates the whole house, and really, the only real "cure" is time. But in the meantime, you can try any or all of the suggestions you've already received.

You might also try simmering some aromatic stuff in a small pot on the stovetop. Use lemon peels, orange peels, some stick cinnamon, vanilla extract, whatever you've got. Fill the pot about 1/2 to 2/3 full of water, put in your aromatics, and bring it to a boil. Then turn the heat down so it's just simmering (leave the lid off the pot), and let it simmer for 20 or 30 minutes. But please keep an eye on it!

Try to open ur windows, open ur doors, and if this doesn't work, use air freshner, or paint on of the walls with fresh paint and that will help to distract the smell of burnt popcorn away from ur apartment.

If the smell is in fabrics like curtains, clothing and upholstery use febreeze. This happened to me and I couldn't get rid of the smell until I realized it was the microwave itself. The odor came out every time I ran it. I just threw it away and bought a new one.

A great way you remove ant bad odors from a room is to burn a Vanilla scented candle. While the candle is burning you smell the Vanilla scent but afterwards no Vanilla and the bad smell is gone!

Make sure the bag is gone...after that it's going to take air and time. Don't feel bad, we've all done it.
