OK, here's my problem: About a month ago, I went to the ER because I was waking up and vomiting. They said I had a virus. I was OK for about a month, then I started waking up in the middle of the night. I was usually able to go back to sleep however. Then about a week ago, I was awakened by nausea and vomited a lot. I went to the ER again and they gave me a CT scan, which they said was fine. However, I developed insomnia after this. I have great difficulty sleeping, only get about 3 hours of unrestful sleep a night and often jolt out of sleep with muscle spasms, increased heart rate and eye twitching. I wonder if I may be having panic attacks or seizures. This is really freaking me out. Any help is appreciated.

Oh, I should add that I don't have any signs of seizures or anything during the day, and that aside from feeling tired, I feel OK.

I agree with sunshine. I had the same problem about a year ago (albeit without the nausea...just not sleeping) I took 5mg Ambien for about a week and it helped get me into a regular sleeping pattern again. I still have Ambien but only use it to combat jet lag.

I have suffered from panice attacks and insomnia for years.
Usually the attacks are during the day but recently I have woke up with a panic attack. Having the same feelings that you are describing. Increased heart rate, the need to move around or get out , needing to get air. It is a really scary feeling I know. You may have the attacks because of your recent illness. And I know from experience that once you have one then your are worried and anxious and afraid of having another one which is almost a worse feeling. I would talk to your dr. I have taken trazadone for insomnia and it works very well. but there are so many out there now. I also took Paxil for the anxiety and it made my life much better. Good luck.

Insomnia, anxiety, vomiting, and many of your other issues are many times symptomatic of much more serious, underlying problems. I realize you went to the ER, but the ER often passes over many serious difficulties. Go to your general practitioner to start. He will then direct you to the appropriate specialist, if required. Your GP is in a knowledgeable position to ask specific questions which may lead him to correct conclusions.

Definatly this sounds like those exact symtoms it is called the flight or flight method. I learned this from my therapist from suffering many years of this so called disease (GAD) General Aniexty disorder. It can rear it ugly presense at any given time, lucky me it usually happens in public places. It is like a little trigger that goes of in your head and you never know, but I started to notice patterns as you will too through time. But, the best thing to do first it sit take a deep breath, I know it seems impossible but you have to. Then start thinking to yourself this is all in your head. I have gone for every friggen test imaginable, and sadly we usually are generally or above healthy. Stress/aniexty can manifest in several differant forms and I mean several. YOu can have muscle spasms, diherea, stomach cramps, dizziness (always my favorite), rapid breathing, uncoordination, fatigue and believe me the list will go on for days. But, you have to train your mind into believe that this too shall pass. No amount of medication will actually get rid of this, but will only help you to cope with the symtoms. I am so sorry that you are experiancing this, but I assure and promise you that it will start to subside once you understand the condition a little better. Exercise is a great way to relieve the unwanted stress and will help with you pyshically and emotionally. Also, start keeping a small diary sometimes bottled up feeling only add; if you have no one to talk to such as myself cause people tend to judge when they have no idea of what it is. It really helps, trust me if you need someone to talk to you are more then welcome to e-mail me at any time. Many sleepless nights, and lots of friends lost due to this. I wish you the best of luck and I believe in you!

hello, i´ve had similar problems for the past six months now. here it goes, my girlfriend of about 7 years broke up with me one day. not expected. we had bought an apartment together and i was the one who left with a pay out. anyways, from the day that i left, i´ve been throwning up almost every morning. and i mean, every morning. i dont have problems sleeping, i take VALARIUM for that. anyways, i too had that twitching thing, i got some blood tests dont, not cat scan. apparently nothing is physically wrong with me. twitching of the eye is usually directly related to stress , or anxiety...a question...do u tend to think about things when you go to bed. is your mind racing? if your mind is racing....that means you either have depression or anxiety or what not. i´m only starting to get out of being ¨rock bottom,¨and remember, you only throw up when you sleep, and you twitch only at certain times of the day, it´s not like you´re doing it 24/7. i really wouldn´t worry. believe me, i´ve been there.

Your symptoms are far to complicated to guess about. I suggest you see a medical Doctor soon.
