where in the bible does it say he divorced his wife?

I found this in the first epistle of Peter:

"Likewise, you husbands should live with your wives in understanding, showing honor to the weaker female sex, since we are joint heirs of the gift of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
Finally, all of you, be of one mind, sympathetic, loving toward one another, compassionate, humble.

Do not return evil for evil, or insult for insult; but, on the contrary, a blessing, because to this you were called, that you might inherit a blessing."

Paul was never married. He had a vow to God to love and serve God only and was a eunuch.

Whatever book you were reading on this it certainly wasn't the Bible.

I APOLOGIZE - I MISREAD THE QUESTION... Peter never divorced his wife. As it is today, men still go on missionary trips without their wives. That doesn't signify divorce but a deep dedication on the wife's part to release her husband to serve God. Since Christians are strongly against divorce because it is offensive to God, that option was not open to them. They wanted to please God in everything just like the believers today who are in tune with the Lord.

No, he left her for a season. Paul wrote that he later went back to his wife, who became a believer and travelled with him. 1 Cor. 9:5 reads:

"Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas [Peter]?"

If Peter had divorced his wife, he would have "put her away" as the Pharisees did (which would contradict Jesus' teaching on this matter). As I wrote above, it's obvious he didn't do that.

Why does this issue make you so angry?

EDIT: Thank you, Father K. **blush**

I don't think so. I think he was just gone a lot. Like a traveling husband. Actually, wasn't Peter the one who was crucified upside down on the cross? I think his wife was killed the same way. I just heard that somewhere.

There is absolutey no evidence to support this theory,it is more likely that Peter`s wife had died, mortality was a huge factor back then.

Hmm. Was he gay? Or did he find out too late that his wife was sleeping around on him or that she was an annoying nag and maybe used Jesus as an excuse to divorce her?
